a tableau alive, shot
before me
overwhelming my senses;
triggering my brain
awash in Morning
hearing Purple
synapses firing;
my auditory cortex
shouting in praise
joy in Sunrise
warming of Morning;
awash with colors
rich to my tongue
not just seeing, an image only,
that is far too limiting;
tasting Dawn and
hearing Purple

“Tasting the morning”
series of poems based on
segment on how babies,
when they are wearing a
brain cap,
to do EEG measurements,
don’t always
have the visual cortex
light up
when they see something
but sometimes
have the auditory cortex
light up,
as if they are hearing the
image, the colors.
