The yoke of the cross
sharing with Christ
lifting me up
on wings of the dove

if I turn to the Lord

At the heart of the lessons

savored in our mouths
the words we read
the lesson of his teaching
telling us how to leave
according to God’s blessing

Abiding in love

Love is the Fulfillment of the Law

To understand love
to comprehend His commandments
the connection of the two
bonded, in union
neither are separate
as the three in one
to understand love
is to understand God

Love is the fulfillment
of the law and the prophets
all the holy word
come down in the Christ
what he said important
essential for our lives
that we would live forever
at the end of our days

We would not hurt one another
if we truly follow
if we heard the message
the law of our Master
the words of our Shepherd
the example of the lamb
who went to Calvary

How we treat our neighbor
the stranger, our enemy
in love, under the law
how it is to be
all of our lives
walking as servants
sharing his message
to let the captives free

Something to remember
as we go about our day
the teaching of our master
on the hillside that day
The truth of scripture
of the law and the prophets
the sum of the commandments
in how we treat our neighbors

Love does not harm a neighbor
whichever the law
the least and the last
to them we should give our all
offering hope,
light in the darkness
standing for freedom
for even those who are yet strangers
all of the world
our extended family

The ravings of a lunatic

Watching in horror
the madman on the balcony
rambling on incessantly
of who would be executed
who would be killed
for speaking out in freedom
Blind to his rage
his tone too strident
willing to die in flames
than relinquish his power
Someone must step in
to take him from the stage
to give his people life
and put him in a cage
No hope in his countenance
that he could be reasoned with

Letting this stand
the oppression of the nations
letting the people starve
in subjugation

In Love, Under the Law

How we live
our walk in this life
understanding Christ
what he came to give

To bring love
down to the earth
to change our hearts
to give us new birth

In love, how we are to love
not an infatuation
informing every step
every word, action
every beat of our heart

In love, walking
following his commands
under the law
on this rock we stand

Not to reject
to topple the law
to fulfill the word
in coming to earth

Christ’s example plain
humble, as a babe
a lamb upon the cross
dying in our name

Taking on our sin
paying that awful cost
dying that we may live
in love, under the law

Weeping, Out of Love

Weeping for these people
our neighbors in the streets
crying for the people
dying for their freedoms
standing before tyrants
the rulers in the fortress
denying their human rights

Weeping, out of love
calling for their freedom
praying that the world will act
to set the prisoners free
out from under his boot
the people are the martyrs
holy is their cause
liberating their nation

The Sole of My Shoe

Holding up my smelly sneaker
the sole of my shoe
as he claimed to be a martyr
How dare he defile
the people who have died
who have stood for freedom
before this tyrant

He is no martyr
a sword of the almighty
He is a bully
on the school ground
A curse upon his nation
the ravings of a madman
unable to see
that he is a nullity

A Nullity

He will not be a martyr
a champion of the people
dying for something
noble or worth

He will go down in silence
though he will be screaming
a nullity, a cypher
a shadow on the stage

The world will be better
when he has left power
few will weep

Madness

The world watching
needing to speak
to act in justice
to protect the meek

Madness on the stage
personified in him
unable to hear their voices
calling for freedom

Only the gun
the blood of the martyrs
falsely claiming the right
that he is in power

The world should cage him
topple this madness
chain the tyrant
and unchain the people
finally able to breathe free

Speak, Out of Love

Not something political
whether or not convenience
needing to speak out now
against the rogue, the madman

Speak, out of love
for these people
needing to be heard now
speaking to the nations

I pray for these people
for all those in chains
that they would shake off the shackles
that all would be free

All of us who claim the name
who call ourselves Christian
we must speak out now
against the killing, the slaughter

The madman must stop
the people be freed
we must stand with the people
in voice, and on our knees

Rivers of Blood

The blood of the people
to be spilt by the tyrant
raining down from heaven
onto the earth

Unwilling to relinquish
to give up his power
unwilling to leave the stage
his time history

The martyrs growing
the dead in numbers
the people’s resolve
not backing down

Their freedom coming
the world watching
tragedy unfolding
in the land of sand and oil

The Power of Her Faith

To go, to give
to serve, to live
the power of her faith
to change the face of the earth
to lead us by her example
to go and serve in love
She came to the altar
with two humble coins
giving all she had
humbly, to the Lord
offering an example
of true faith in life
trusting in the Lord to give
everything she needed
all she needs in life
