a body of rice – v6

It was a pure moment,
an instant never to be forgotten,
capturing a four-year old’s faith
caught by my ear,
in the snack aisle,
for this moment, the Church…
 
A sleeve of rice cakes
seen for its essence,
in a different place,
broken by clergy,
as the Body of Christ
for the wheat intolerant…
 
My face broke into smile,
before her question,
caught too by her spirit,
and her belief,
in the transformation,
within Christ’s blessing…

Based on Shanequa’s question to me if this
was the body of Christ when we were at Market Basket
on April 22, 2006. She had assisted some weeks earlier at
setting up communion at the Rejuvenation service at our church.
She understood the elements were merely
bread and juice before the pastors’ blessing.

Awakening the Muse – v3

Asleep within me, the muse of my heart
You, oh Holy Spirit, waiting for me,
Looking within, the words still there, waiting,
finding voice, freedom, when I still myself to Thee.
 
Speak to me, Holy Spirit eternal,
give me Your words to offer, to share,
find me willing, in the quiet of my soul, my spirit,
teach me to share Your message, Love to the world.

Through Your Word – v4

In the quiet of morning,
stillness of my room,
the written Word before me
a message of Grace, for me, this moment,
to share with others on my Walk.
 
Through Your Word, oh God, I grow,
I live, transformed, by Your Holy Spirit,
speaking to me, deep within me,
writing more of Your story, another Word,
onto the living flesh of my Heart.
 
Through Your Word, growing,
living my Journey, my Walk,
with Power, with Purpose
with words of Love to Share,
to Offer, to Sow in this Life.

In the quiet of my spirit,
bowing my head, silently,
no words audible, spoken,
praying to You in the quiet
in the stillness of my soul…
 
Finding You there, in the stillness,
waiting ever for me, patiently,
in the quiet presence
away from the day to day…
 
Speaking when I am open,
to Your presence, my worship,
in my prayer, discernment,
receptive to Your word, oh God,
Speak, Lord, I am listening…

The path of resistance,
the way God has written,
what God has chosen for us,
following His Law, the Way,
of Christ, of God’s righteous.
 
Not conforming our steps,
our focus on the ground before us,
not taking the path of least resistance,
but walking with God, the Creator,
our King, the Way Maker.

We are sentient – v2

We are sentient,
feeling beings, human;
We can sense the consequences
of our decisions, of our choices.
 
We are given free will,
by God the Creator;
We can choose to follow Christ
or the ways of the earth.
 
We are sentient,
mortal creatures, humans;
Every decision is a choice
with real world implications…

I am not lost, abandoned,
Yet I can feel that way sometimes;
We all struggle in this life,
To feel the touch of God…
 
I am not lost, forsaken,
Christ died for me, for my sins;
I am not alone in this world,
For the Spirit dwells within me…
