As We Are – v2

God loves us as we are,
grace descended
Christ came, into the world
to repair our brokenness;
Our torn lives, splintered families,
our shattered hopes and dreams.

Christ enters in,
taking away our sin
giving us freedom, joy,
real hope for our lives,
Christ sets us on a path
that leads us home.

Repairing Our Lives – v2

The Carpenter, the Potter
the Son, the Christ
come into the world
called by our brokenness
our humanity, like Adam,
a curse, keeping us from God
from that place of perfection
God’s plan for our lives

The Son, the one foretold
come into the world
repairing our lives
our sin washed away
in our repentance;
our humbly accepting
the gift of salvation
offered to the whole world

Seek Me and Live – v3

God calls to us
His voice from Heaven;
Calling to our aching hearts
when we have gone astray.
Like the shepherd calling
to lost sheep wandering;
Away from the flock
in the dark wilderness.

Let go of the world
temptations, false treasure;
Seek Me and live
He calls to our hearts.
Wanting us to turn
to come back to Him;
His arms open wide
seeking our embrace.

Justice Alive – v3

God in His judgment seat
ready to judge the nations
all the people of the earth
walking here below.

Calling us, as He did the nation
to repent of this world
to change our ways
and turn to Him.

Justice alive, flowing onward
a never-ending stream
brimming with life,
with life everlasting.

Love for our neighbors
as He has commanded;
the judgment of our days
our walk in this life.

Justice Washing – v3

The love of God
His commandments for living;
Love for our neighbors
as for our own selves

Justice washing
flowing like a river;
Living waters
washing over us
making us clean

Peace in the Savior
the Creator, the Spirit;
reconciling us to them
a Trinity yet One

not ambiguous
what we must do

to hate evil, to love good
to seek love for all

God’s calling
His deepest desire
offering Himself to us
that we would live
Wanting us to give
to come before Him

with all that we are
seeking His love

washing over us
with all that we are

Not in false ritual

Not in our words
the stuff of our offerings
not in our songs
offered up to God
None of these matter
if our way is not worthy
if we live for ourselves
failing to seek justice
if our climb to the top
leaves carnage in our wake
God sees our actions
how we walk in this life
this is the message
on which we will be judged
Do not see riches
following graven idols
offering false ritual
But walk in the light
follow God’s commandments
let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream!

Not in our gifts

The Lord wanting offerings
in our hearts
Not in our gifts
flowery rhetoric
not in choice burnt offerings
laid on the altar
None of these matter
detestable to God
Only through our hearts
may the breach be restored
How we live
caring for our neighbors
how we love
in our walk day to day
Do we love all our neighbors
Do we let God take the reins

Hate Evil, Love Good

Black and white
polar opposites
not the gray of this world
the instruction of God

Hate evil, love good
maintain justice in the courts
seek good, not evil
that you may live

Nothing of shading
our lives will be our witness
as day is to night
so we must be

Living in God’s ways
following His commandments
faithful to our God
love for our fellow man

Not two but one master
our choice ever
seeking evil or God
which one will we choose?

words of the prophet
echoing the call
of the one sovereign God
Seek the Lord and live
there is no other
His command to us ever
believing in Him
loyal to our Maker
in Him alone
do we all trust

Repairing Our Brokenness

Christ, the babe, the man
up out of the waters
into his desert times
claiming Isaiah
the words of the prophet
fulfilled in his coming to earth

To set us free,
from whatever our chains
those of others or ourselves
leading us home
back to our Lord
through the blood
his life, we are redeemed

Repairing our brokenness
lifting our sin
the stain, the struggles, our cares
offering us hope
joy in this life
and treasures
in the life to come
