Plum sky at night - v2

Plum sky at night
nothing so simple, rhyming,
fog to start the day, thick,
now radiant gray-white
a milk-wash over the sky, the dome,
gaining power, bright.
 
Finally, past midday blue sky appearing,
but only for a time, milk-sky returning,
whiter, brighter, making my eyes squint;
sunset now upon us, the cycle,
whisps of clouds lower pinker,
another day ending, darkness come.

Into the #cathedral of the #trees - v3

I leave care, my day behind me,
stepping beyond the grass, the brush,
into the autumnal forest, resplendent,
precious, bathed in varied color, in light.
 
I enter worship, sanctuary,
into the cathedral of the trees
focusing on the sky, the canopy,
grace, singing from my knees.
 
Years later, I remember well,
those moments, these woodlands,
every tree displaying their worship,
their bodies, their arms lifted to God.

The pain on her face - v2

Seeing her little Star of David,
words in Hebrew, of love,
hanging around her neck,
asking her about this weekend,
terror in the Promised Land.
 
The pain on her face
palpable, so telling, present,
the word "horrific", so correct,
bleeding from her lips, prayer,
knowing there is more to come.
 
Sharing our faiths, our beliefs,
all children of the same Father,
the one Creator, different sheep,
sharing the same story, the law,
all thinking about this terror.

The pain on her face

Seeing the star of David,
the words in Hebrew,
hanging around her neck,
asking about this weekend, 
the terror in the Promised Land.
 
The pain on her face

#Sentience of the autumnal forest – v2

Before a quickening of winter,
dormancy, still, frozen,
sentience, autumnal,
authentic worship,
lifting praises to God…
 
Cathedral of trees,
trunks, supple bodies,
branches raised to heaven,
dressed in radiant finery,
whisper of brilliance, before fall…
 
Hush in autumnal stillness,
reverence in this moment,
touch of the hand of God,
knowing presence, closeness,
in creation, evolving, changing…
 
Power in truth, vision, life,
true nature of beauty, of worship,
each leaf empowered, an individual,
no longer bound under green,
patina of full summer…
