Lord, God, watch over our leaders,
Lift up men and women of righteousness,
of mercy, of fidelity to their calling,
Guard their minds, their hearts,
Let Your presence, Your Spirit,
dwell within them, their spirits,
May they do Your will and Your work…
 
Lord, God, lift up men and women,
holy servants, authentic leaders,
May they care for our nation, justly,
May they lead us in Your ways, in love,
May they lead our people, in mercy,
May they raise up, may they walk,
humbly, in all righteousness…

we receive peace – v4

We are given peace,

we receive our lives back,

our lives are in God’s hands

as they are from the beginning;

A lesson in this scripture,

one of many actually,

from the life of Paul

and our own faith journeys.

We are freed of chaos

our sinful bodies are released

from the power of sin

in giving up control

we are freed from our past;

We receive peace

we gain control of spirits

new lives of grace.

a willing servant – v3

we see these people

those who have gone before us

just as flawed as we are;

we are each given free will

we are not forced to follow

to submit our will to God

Rebekah chooses, Mary chooses

all the faithful choose

to follow God, to follow Christ

to live submission

all of our lives

a willing servant

giving ourselves over

into the hand of God;

the same question to us

will we go, will we follow

will we choose

to be a servant of God.

in giving up control,

in submission to God

We receive peace

we gain control of lives of grace,

when we lay down our crowns

and pick up the cross of Christ.

The Savior was speaking to them

words that may have been a mystery

speaking of His authority

holding all of the power of God

within His hands.

The Father had given Christ all things

all of heaven and earth

were imparted to Him

gifted to the Son,

No one knows the Son – v2

In completeness, fully,

a word of truth to them,

Christ speaking to the disciples

speaking to them in power.

No one knows the Son

other than the Father

God alone is able fully

to understand His power.

The extent of the Kingdom

the hand of the living God is upon us

living here among us

a man yet fully God, divine.
