We cannot make one disciple

They each have free will

we are not in control of their steps;

We can lead them,

we can guide them,

but we cannot change a human heart.

We cannot change any of them

no more than we can end addiction

of a loved one, a neighbor;

We are called, we are commissioned,

to go and make disciples

to go to the ends of the earth

This is the Great Commission

to the followers of Christ

but no one can make disciples

changing another’s heart;

We can offer a blessing,

sowing seeds of God’s love,

and we can pray for them and their heart;

We cannot make one single disciple

while we walk the earth

We cannot make a stranger

a loved one, our brother

to become a disciple of Christ;

We cannot make one single disciple

while we walk on earth;

They have free will, we are not in control;

We can lead them, we can pray

we can guide them;

Satan’s contempt

for God’s people, the same

new champions going into battle

but the same evil

the tyrants, the madmen

the monsters, the coming,

the rising, the growing

time after time, after time

the evil of the warlords

the conquering armies

not fighting flesh alone

A Secular World – v3

A secular world,

empires rising,

falling nations

crumbling to dust.

A secular world,

full of choices,

the way of God

or the path of the flesh.

A secular world,

a spiritual calling,

to turn from the world

to follow the Christ.

A secular world,

but still we have choices,

who will we follow

our goals in this life.

A Secular World – v2

A secular world,

empires rising;

falling nations

crumbling to dust.

A secular world,

full of choices;

the way of God or

the path of the flesh.

A secular world,

but a spiritual calling;

to turn from the world,

to follow the Christ.

A secular world,

but still we have choices;

who will we follow

our goal in life.

like the firmament, the creation – v2

like the firmament, the creation,

strands of history pulled up

from the waters, from the pages

the Book of Life, written,

the song continuing, being sung,

the history of the world, of God’s people,

cascading forward, waves

a ripple through time

a song, a story continuing,

until the end of time.
