Goldenrod and asters
affinity of the colors
finding a place together
in fields of wildflowers.
So beautiful together,
binding us to their merging,
they are the brown of the earth,
singing of all of creation,
our hope of connection
we feel in the wild places.
Choosing their partners
their sisters and brothers
gold and purple together
the fields ablaze.
That holds us to the land,
even as we are so busy,
in urban setting, rushing,
returning to the fields,
these plant elders call to us,
speak to us, across the wild places...
