tear me open

my flesh from my spirit
my body from my soul
sinew from bone
split me wide open
tear me open
empty my self
fill me with you

let me be ready
emptied of my self
the old cast away
my demons, my sins
empty, to be prepared
ready to share, to witness
to pour out in love

empty, to be ready only
open to your blessing
the Spirit indwelling
fill me, fill me. . .
tear me open
make me ready
to be filled with love

poor but not hungry

in our bodies
maybe hungry
but in God’s love
we are filled
lost in our spirits
yearning, hungry
fed by God’s love
His living word.

weightless upon us

trying to acknowledge
to describe this experience
something tangible
as she called Your presence
for the Spirit to join us
to fall down on us

a cool mist descending
the mantle, the fire
a presence falling, bright
a taffeta of frost
weightless upon us
the Holy Spirit falling

her calling to You
to fall down upon us
offering us blessing;
Oh Spirit, descending,
come closer, with us
fall down on me.

torn from my flesh

Ripped from my body
the demons, the bile
Satan within
torn from my flesh
against his will
an empty vessel finally,
ready to be filled.

Fill me with love
words you have spoken,
quieting the chaos,
bless me with power.
Defeat the demons
clear away the garbage
the baggage within.
Split me wide open,
reveal yourself to me.

The demons removed
ripped from my body
torn from my flesh
casting out this sin.
Fill me overflowing,
rip me wide open,
transformed within.

ripped asunder – v2

torn, an open wound
ripped asunder
a gash opened
tearing the sky,
the heavens
for this holy cost
like the veil in the temple
the holy of holies
what would be ripped, torn
the God of creation
tearing the heavens
wide open
a vision of glory
in anointing our Savior
up from the waters
the Spirit meeting Him
at the water’s surface
blessing our Brother
sent out into the world
