Like no other
Love complete
God fully known
if we could see this
in the coming of Jesus
down to the ground
Revealing all
God’s true nature
in the way he walked
humbly on the earth
come to save us
Love given flesh
walking among us
offering hope, redemption
life eternal
in humble service
by the way of the cross
we all may live.

Out of Love Given
Out of the love given
Christ come into the world
God’s grace, his mercy
Our response, out of our gratitude
wearing virtues,
as the Christ before us
clothing ourselves
taking on the yoke, the mantle
the name of Christ
Offering ourselves
to our God and our neighbors
servants of the master
sheep of the shepherd’s flock

Clothed in Virtues
We must be,
living our lives
clothed in virtues
living out a life
worthy of his name
humbly walking in this world
offering love to our neighbor
a hand to those in need
living as the Christ
in whose steps we follow

Colossians 3:12
– “Insights: Waking Up Naked”
Putting on Christ
A garment of virtues
the grace of God given
putting on Christ
to guide our way
Mercy as he showed Mary
judged for her behavior
Kindness in his communion
his healing of the lepers
all who came to him
Humility in his servanthood
following the master’s call
Gentleness, when he said,
chiding the disciples,
“let the children come to me.”
Patience with their doubting
their failing to see.
Living in this world
but staying true to God
a model of righteous
what we aspire to be

A Suit of Virtues
Putting on Christ,
clothed in love
wearing, always
a suit of virtues
of mercy, kindness,
humility, gentleness, patience
all of these shown
by Christ, come into the world
His life a testimony,
an example, living out
the grace, the kindness
the love of God
modeled in the world

The Inner Workings of the Song
The words of the poetry
the love, given by God
like the inner workings of the song
the story of Christ
our king, our savior
the babe born in the humble stable
placed into the manger bed
the lamb, climbing upon the cross
God come down to earth
living as a man
walking a righteous life
saving us from our sin
in his rising from the dead
ascending to heaven again
all in fulfillment,
seated forever on his throne
