our confession of sin;

Cleansed on the altar

dying with Him.

A king forever
a light to the nation

In the Season of Judgment

Center on God
into his arms
within his robe
a sanctuary of life
the flood waters coming
the raging wildfire
the evil in the world
about to be wiped out

Wisdom leading
calling me to him
entering in
sealed within the law
fearing God
not earthly armies
trusting in God
our rock, our refuge
the world our stumbling block

Before Immanuel

The prophet foretelling
the birth to the virgin
Immanuel, God with us,
from the holy seed
buried in the ground
as God had promised

Before Immanuel
the people to be ravaged
other peoples becoming God’s agents
his holy plans to achieve;
the land barren
in this season
dormant until his coming;
oh let him come!

The Stump in the Land

Not utterly forsaken
thought the people were scattered
sent to the winds
away from the promised land

The stump in the Land
the holy presence
not uprooted or burned
never to return
dormant for this season
buried in the ground
to rise in glory

I saw the Lord
high on his throne
the courts of his temple
the fabric of his robe

Joseph’s Choice

His betrothed,
with child
how can this be
what shall he do

Send her away
quietly, with respect

But an angel shared a vision
the holy spirit the means
the virgin still she remains
fulfilling the prophecy of old

But, what to do, still the same
now the child
shall be the Son of God;
oh boy!

Another father
with unlimited visitation rights
such a job;
the step-father of God!
