Completing Their Journey – v2

Not yet truly finished
but completing their journey
from slavery in Egypt
to a free people
wandering in the desert
suddenly placed
a new people,
living in the promised land

Joshua leading
a new generation
the Moses for a people
a new chapter of their life
food from the land,
not manna from heaven
a new generation
of God’s people

in our wandering

God with us, his people
like the Israelites, wandering
in our own deserts, struggles
needing his presence
We receive forgiveness
God’s hand resting upon us
His presence alive
with us in our struggles
to the land he has promised

in this new land

God’s chosen people
in the land which he promised
the work to their hands
fruits of the harvest
in this new land
no more manna from heaven
God’s people in their home
the land which he promised

fruit of that land

the Lord provided
as they wandered in the desert
the manna and quail
feeding God’s people
moving into that land
planted, for a harvest
that land now providing
food for God’s people

The Land Providing

Not manna from heaven
standing in the promised land
the land providing
all of their needs

God’s blessing
in the Passover
the people faithful
remembering his grace

No longer wandering
no fields did they tend
alone in the desert
relying on God alone

Come into the land
flowing with milk and honey
reaping its bounty
as the Lord had promised

Barefoot on Holy Ground

Can you picture the scene –
a bush with living fire
dancing on the skin of the leaves
A fire without loss
Part of the miraculous,
the possible for the eternal I am.

A trembling servant
following the call from the flames
to shed his sandals
to touch holy ground.

A precious act of reverence and awe
seeing the presence of God
in power and authority
Knowing the chasm between us
Acting Accordingly.

Exodus 3:1-6
Command of God, the I am, to Moses to remove his sandals before the burning bush. See also Joshua 5:15.
