by You alone, Holy Spirit…
Restore to me

my joy of salvation
so I would feel You
reaching from heaven

give me peace in my spirit…

oh Potter, Creator,
touch me, heal me,

Oh God, You alone are sovereign,
Creator of heaven and earth
I confess my sins to You,
You give us life…
I come to You with a broken heart
I grieve for all my sins, my rebellion,
You raised me from the grave.
You lifted me from the pit…
You know the wreckage of my past
My sin, my brokenness.
Bring me to wholeness
redeem my life…
Oh God, You know me
Before I took my first breath
You alone can save me
from my brokenness…

I have not trusted God for protection
I have not believed He loves me
settling for the familiar, what I know
not venturing forth, courageous,
holding on to bittersweet
The pain of this now…
I have not risked anything, inertia,
stuck in my ruts, the familiar,
Praying that this will get better
leaden feet, frozen,
stuck in the quicksand,
trying merely to survive…
I have avoided pain, in stasis,
And yet, pain is what I carry,
not taking a risk, moving forward,
not trusting in God’s promises
I choose the pain of the familiar
not believing He will protect me now…

I am not my master, truly,
That rightful place is reserved for God,
I am a slave within my rebellion
to my sin, my guilt, my shame…
I am in a state of rebellion, defiance,
my sin defines my past, my present,
It is ever before me, I am aware of
my hurt, my guilt, my shame…
I am mortal, broken, fallen,
I am ruled by my flesh, my sin,
But I confess to You, my Savior,
my way to eternal life, to new life again…
I am not my master, truly,
I am a slave to my rebellion, my sin,
How I long to turn to You, my Savior,
to return the rightful place to God…

Pride whispers in the darkness
condemning our souls to death
separating us from grace,
from the mercy of God…
Pride whispers, “You are better
than your sins, but you are not enough.
You are unworthy of salvation
of the sacrifice of Christ”…
Pride whispers damnation
But the Spirit cries, “You are Enough!
God loves you, Jesus saved you,
You are my beloved child”…
Pride whispers the lies of Satan
words to separate, to drive a wedge,
But Christ paid our debt.
We have eternal life…

our deceit, our defiance,
our claiming authority, autonomy,
putting ourselves in the place of God,
killed by our pride, our sin,
longing for control, to win…
killed by our pride, our rebellion,
denying God His rightful place, His power,
losing our lives, aware we are naked,
lost in our guilt, our shame,
carrying the wages of sin…
taking God’s place, His power,
claiming our pride, our autonomy,
placing ourselves on the throne
as if we are immortal, forever,
killed by our pride, our self-deception…

trying to do life on my own…
I have broken Your commandments,
Your laws, Your holy precepts,
I have walked away from You, Lord,

I confess my sins freely
You already know
every step of my life…
You know me fully
every step I have taken
You chose to create me
despite my sins…
Oh Lord, I confess to You,
I hide nothing from You,
You already know everything,
The stain of blood on my soul…
I confess to You freely
because You sent my Lord Jesus,
He took my sin, my shame,
and placed them on the cross…

The work You have started;

Blind though I believed,
clinging to my flesh, my sin,
the pain of shame I carried,
more than 50 years in the desert
when God offers me rest…
Lost as Paul was, blind to faith,
given new sight, new vision,
washed in the waters,
putting my old life to death,
so I can walk with Christ…
Help me Lord to put on You,
my Savior, the Christ, Jesus,
Your fabric, You armor,
help me to bury my sin
forever in the grave…
Lift me from the waters,
Let me walk with You on water,
I submit my control,
from my sin, my shame,
help me not to take it again…
