Holding on to Bittersweet – v2

I have not trusted God for protection
I have not believed He loves me
settling for the familiar, what I know
not venturing forth, courageous,
holding on to bittersweet
The pain of this now…
 
I have not risked anything, inertia,
stuck in my ruts, the familiar,
Praying that this will get better
leaden feet, frozen,
stuck in the quicksand,
trying merely to survive…
 
I have avoided pain, in stasis,
And yet, pain is what I carry,
not taking a risk, moving forward,
not trusting in God’s promises
I choose the pain of the familiar
not believing He will protect me now…
