a slave within my rebellion

I am not my master,
that rightful place is God’s
I am a slave within my rebellion
to my sin, my guilt, my shame…
 
I am in a state of rebellion,
my sin defines my past
it is ever before me,
my hurt, my guilt, my shame…
 
I am mortal, broken,
I am ruled by my flesh,
but I confess to You, my Savior,
my way to eternal life…
 
I am not my master
I am a slave to my rebellion
how I long to turn to You
to return the rightful place to God…
