Dew in the Morning - v2

It is 7 am
And the world awakes.
There’s dew in the morning
covering the world.

Every tip of the serrated
Wild strawberry leaves is gilded
With a morning’s tear;
The crown of each green
Blueberry clutches
A single dewdrop.

The carpet of moss is softened
By the morning’s mist.
Small spider webs in the
Lawn hold pearls of liquid gems,
Outlining their maker’s artistry.
New birch leaves
Are never greener.

Miniature panes of mica in
The granite underfoot
Hold a special sheen;
The world is brighter
When there is
Dew in the morning.

Grounded in the Water – revised – v2

All of life's problems bleed away
When I get grounded in the water.
Grounded in the love of God
the never-ending wellspring of life
poured out for all who would drink
who would draw in the energy, the love,
the grace of God’s gifts, so freely given

Like the woman at the well
we ask for the cup to be filled
for our thirst to be quenched,
without having to walk to the well
thirsty and tired, hot and tired
wanting, needing that water
to grounded our faith

Lord, we pray for
a special anointing;
strengthening our spirits
to go and do His work

Grounded in the Water – v2

All of life's problems bleed away
When I get grounded in the water
when I drink of the Word
when I escape from the World
in my canoe, in bible study;
I am at peace, joyful,
when I am grounded in the water.

I pray forgiveness – v4

I pray forgiveness
for the bullies
those who have hurt others
who have lashed out
in pain, in anger
I pray that God
would soften,
that God would change them
that they would gain
a loving, giving heart.

Message in a Bottle – v2

Each poem
Blurted out
Jotted down
A plea, a note,
A squib, a message
Of time, sense, place
Captured and preserved
Sent out, a prayer
Like a message
Sealed, held
In a bottle
Hoping to reach
A reader, somewhere
Who will understand.

The Submariner – v2

Living inside himself
Able to be at peace
In cramped quarters
Silence, comfortable
with himself
Defined a part
Only in the
Service for a few Years
But a solitary man
Finding fulfillment
In his own passions
All his days.

Focused and driven,
An analytical mind
Able to see
In three dimensions
From tool and die
To CAD/CAM and
The logical steps
In between
That drove
The technology
Of his work life.
An expert always on
The cutting edge.

Richness – v2

Vetted, checked, rechecked
Branch on branch
Dead ends and richness,
Teasing truths from the muck;
Seeing possibilities in hypothetical,
Looping back, bending, turning to
Different pathways, self-education
Adult learners – hands on;
Fingers deep in soil, in the
Rich wet earth

Like buttah rolling off the tongue
Richness and robust
The interconnected arguments;
Feel the words in your mind
Good Yankee stock
Caressing the words
Digging in to the Law;
Tilling the Law
From the ground, the earth,
Where you find it
