Our communities, our faith journey,

hope in love, in living together

in growing as one,

like a summer garden

Fed and watered,

by the depths of God’s love

healing coming, weeds removed

dry places tilled, new soil begun

Growing like a garden

tended and cared for;

A harvest in God’s season

all are restored

This poem is about my wife and me when we got married

in a civil service on December 17, 2004 in Concord, NH in White Park

and then before our church family at

Wesley United Methodist Church in Concord, NH

We celebrate 2 anniversaries because they both mean a great

deal to us, in very different ways.

I grieve for those who are able to marry civilly in so many

states now, such as NH, but are unable to marry in their

United Methodists churches and for the clergy who are put on trial

for choosing to go against the Discipline to marry them.

A new perspective

a new guiding,

teaching us words of joy

to think of today, and tomorrow

With God ever, evermore

we are already raptured

of our risen Lord and Savior

Even Jesus, unwilling,

the only one righteous

choosing not to judge

though He alone was worthy

without sin, unblemished.

Showing compassion

to her, for us, truly

sharing for us a mirror

of our own lives;

Cautioning us to be humble
