All that God has commanded,
To receive your inheritance,
To abide in this Promised Land…

To the promise of a land of milk and honey,
For an earthly kingdom, a place,
That you did not create, but a land
Promised to your ancestors,

Another #Shabbat with too many missing

Another week ending, pausing,
stopping the daily struggle, this madness,
touching their history, their story,
Opening the Torah, remembering God.
 
Dusk falling, fallen, gathering into worship,
remembering creation, the hand of God,
but too many missing, a peace shattered,
Like the night of Kristallnacht, horror raging.
 
Too many killed, injured, too many stolen, taken,
by an enemy, terror, coming to their homeland,
a place of peace, of sanctuary, yet no rest for the People
Another Shabbat with too many missing, shattered.
 
But a resolve palpable, even in stopping,
in pondering, remembering all that God provides,
a moment, a day, of rest from their labors,
Knowing there is so much yet to be done…

Under the Law,

rules laid down

staring at my sin

so much of our lives;

where I have failed

to follow each letter

each verse of the Law

Only by grace

the sacrifice of the Son

the love of our Father, God;

walking with the Spirit

indwelling within me

only then able to see

the face of God

We must Love our neighbors

We have lost our way

nothing that joins us

only divisions, factions,

them versus us

We must Love our neighbor

all are God’s children

the second command of God

after the command to

love God completely

How we should treat

our fellow man

to love our neighbors

as we love ourselves

We are no better

than any other

though we seek

to be better somehow

by judging our neighbor

How can we divide

separating people

all of us neighbors

under the skin

We all are fallen

we all have the same stain

all of us sin, turn away,

We all deserved death

but Christ climbed our cross

We must Love our neighbor

as God commands us

ignoring the differences

finding common ground

Made Righteous

Even in my life
the anchor of my sin
holding me to the earth

Only by the grace
the love of God
able to walk in faith

Made righteous
courageous, because of the Lord
his sacrifice, made clean

The stain of my sin
washing from my soul
pure as the driven snow

Walking with my savior
all of my days
the spirit guiding me home
