Purposely Choosing – v2

In the world,
but of the Spirit,
made of clay, flesh,
but belonging to Christ;
We must be mindful
of the continuing struggle,
the battle for good and evil
for the desires of our heart

Needing to cleave to the Spirit
the voice of God
welling up in us
guiding our steps;
purposely choosing
to be faithful
the way of the cross
guiding our walk

Remembering His Gifts – v5

In times of crisis, trials,
when Christ feels far away
we must focus on our history;
We must remember God’s gifts
God’s answers to our prayers.

Bits of grace heaped on us
by God, living waters,
when we felt close to God;
Little piece of meaning, the truth,
that God meets our daily needs.

Filling some niche, some space,
something that we needed
though we may not know it at the time;
God is close by us, always,
all of our days.

Even when we wander
when we are in the desert
when we struggle to sense God;
God is with us always
just as God promised

Focused on Our Master – v2

Like the young prophet
seeking the blessing of God;
Focused on our Master
following where He leads.

Choosing to be faithful
ignoring other voices;
Following our Savior
drawn to our Shepherd’s call.

Focus on His Calling – v3

God is already wooing
calling us to His path;
God wants what is best for us
even when we go the other way.

Focus on God’s calling
so that we would follow Christ;
Heed the Spirit’s calling
that we would walk in the light.

Living in Faith – v2

Yielding to the Spirit,
God, the three in one;
Heeding their call
that I may do My master’s work.

Turning from the path
the former course of my life;
Focusing on the future
where God would have me go.

Being a messenger
the word on the wind;
A servant in the field
sowing seeds of love.

Turning myself into the winds
as Christ turned to Jerusalem;
Heeding my Master’s voice
that I may fly with Him.

Distracted from Your Grace – v2

The clutter of our lives
the little things in the way;
Obscuring our vision
our eyes are off the prize.

Losing the sight of the ball
the important thing, the Christ;
Caught up in our day to day
missing out on eternal life.

Distracted from Your grace
led farther away;
The way of the world calling
that we would lose God.

Needing to be purposeful
the Spirit speaking within us;
Bringing us closer to God
that we would truly live.

Angry about Rejection – v4

The disciples angry
at the lack of welcome;
The Samaritan’s response
to their request for a place of rest.

And yet their anger
at such a small thing,
at the very moment
Christ turned to Jerusalem.

His sacrifice, His submission,
compared with their anger;
How stark the contrast
what they felt that day.

Petty problems
growing too large;
When our focus, our goal,
is turned away from Christ.

In every generation
God has been there with us
God writing the story
though His footprints are unseen
God is always with us
Through the ancient history

Remember God’s Gifts

Remember God’s gifts
speak of them openly
repeat them often
within the circle
to all generations

In times of crisis
when Christ feels far away
focus on our history
remember God’s gifts

Bits of grace heaped on us
