Ukraine’s partners -
Are they really partners? -
When they could have changed,
when there were other sources,
Just to save a buck...
 
Ukraine’s partners,
on the continent of Europe...
It is now five summers,
But soon it will be Winter
when the mercury drops...

Ukraine’s partners
are still babies, truly,
Suckling on the oily tit
of their mother Russia...
Too afraid to stop...

Ukraine’s partners
must wean themselves,
finally, at long last...
Because the oil and gas
is mixed with innocent blood...

When we face a moral choice
to act or to remain silent
when we see evil, injustice,
present right before us...
What do we do?
 
We cannot claim ignorance
when the truth is present before us...
Acquiescence, timidity, silence are no option...
We claim neutrality, expedience...
But...
We accept their subjugation...
 
The worst evil is indifference
when the truth is right before us
turning a blind eye to suffering
claiming our neutrality, equivalence,
in the face of genocide...
 
The blood of the victims, the innocents,
these good and brave people
is upon our hands...
Our complacency makes us complicit
for their mounting war crimes...

Not an inflection point, but many,
Different strands within the same cord
The rise of authoritarians, their minions,
Jack-booted thugs, little Satans -
As we were already warned by history -
The rise of violence against the innocents,
Riots are rising, marching, children taken...
All the threads are woven together,
But like new shoots grafted in the same vine,
We do not know the fruit they will bear…
 
Civil war, resistance against repression,
Brothers warring against brothers...
Cell-phone cameras of an army,
Believing your eyes not the propaganda,
The lies of those in power, shouting,
Demanding submission, uneven...
Every meeting, every statement
None alone unravels the system, but,
Together they weave pressure across borders,
over time, across pivotal moments...
 
Change is upon us, titans -
The Age of Empires or Freedom -
Only time will tell, in its time,
Change is never tidy; it is cumulative, building,
relentless, and ever-patient. People who endure,
who persist in speaking truth, are the ones
who bend the arc of history toward justice,
even when it feels invisible day by day.
Chaos and patience exist side by side —
both are part of the work of God...

Evil has become more pernicious,
In interactions with people,
Language that was once taboo,
Now blurted out freely…
 
Evil is ascendant, rising,
Darkness is welling up,
Coarseness become the norm,
No shame, no filters…
 
Evil on its face, spewing,
Bile from in our guts,
No dog whistles any longer,
Just pure hate…
 
Evil is on the march,
Terror given cover,
Timidity stokes the flames,
No Truth, just opinions…

The days of Russia's Anschluss of Crimea – v2

The days of Russia’s Anschluss of Crimea,
the annexation of the Black Sea,
claiming Sevastopol for their fleet, forever,
as if this was their destiny, their right.
 
The days of Russia’s Anschluss of Crimea,
Now ten years later, the anguish,
Not union but terror, sorrow,
The people imprisoned, subjugated.
 
The days of Russia’s Anschluss of Crimea,
Have reached their apex, their end, a catharsis,
It may not be days or hours, weeks even,
But that day will certainly come…
