One heart speaking,
one spirit sharing,
their gifts, their talents,
offering love, hope,
into the chaos of this world…
 
One spirit shining,
so brightly, authentic,
offering love to others,
not knowing who needs to hear,
that which they have been given…
 
One soul rising,
bringing art, creativity,
one heart committed to beauty,
offering something pure, holy,
sharing a gift with the world…

Pulling back from the pinnacle

Pulling back from the pinnacle,
from the thing that she loves,
taking time for herself
to be healed, restored…
 
Choosing herself, herself,
not the maddening crowd,
those who idolize, adore her,
those who would tear her down…
 
Finding restoration, wholeness,
as she had to, in the end, in truth,
taking up the mantle, her title,
once again reclaiming her crown…
 
In the end, she mattered, her whole self,
gathering her fans, her loved ones to her,
standing on the world stage once again,
flooded with joy, God’s infinite grace.

Their best sons and daughters – v2

How great is their nation’s loss,
after a decade of terror, of destruction,
of genocide, of blood in the streets,
endless attacks by the enemy,
killing everything in their path…
 
Their best sons and daughters,
of this people, this nation, lost,
taken by the slaughter, the carnage,
anguished cries in shelters, under
constant missile sirens, terror unleashed…
 
Time stands still, frozen, lives ripped
from their own paths, their freedom,
taking up arms against the enemy,
resolute in their shared struggles,
protecting the land that they love…  
 
Their best sons and daughters,
witnesses now to the horrors,
standing in defiance against terror,
the complacency of others, too timid,
to stand in the gap for them…
 
More than martyrs, the fallen valor,
they are heroes of freedom, their nation,
resolute against the enemy, sacrificing
so much, their lives, for all of humanity,
standing in the gap where we will not tread…
 
The living at attention, the dead do not yet rest,
until the enemy is defeated, until there is peace
in their homeland, for posterity, a just reawakening,
their flag over every home, the blue and yellow ablaze,
only then will they be at peace, only then will they rest…

A refrain repeating, amplified,
growing ever more urgent, daily,
anguished cries of this people rising,
praying someone would hear their pleas…
 
Let Ukraine Strike Back…
 
Too long has terror, genocide,
this evil, this carnage, gone
unchecked, carved out, allowed,
by red-lines, endless delays…
 
Oh, Let Ukraine Strike Back…
 
Restrictions, fear, hesitation,
costing so many lives, terror,
unabated, hopes dashed, crying,
blood running in the streets…
 
A prayer, Let Ukraine Strike Back…
 
Let them strike the archers,
not merely catching the arrows,
may the skies be freed, empty,
of Russia’s missiles, this terror…
 
Oh, please, Let Ukraine Strike Back…

Enemies and Martyrs – v2

In this time, in this moment,
the world’s eyes open, struggling,
to stand with this nation, their leader,
in this time of conflict, this unholy war,
so many innocents lost in the combat,
in constant shelling try to defeat them,
but widespread condemnation,
is rising from all around the globe…

His words of ancient scripture so telling,
making this war a holy crusade, jihad,
marshalling his forces, the nation,
seeing only one enemy, manifest,
martyrs have become their enemies,
this ancient land, a promise, a hope,
for his people, his nation, but a challenge,
condemned to live in a forever state of war…
 
Their enemies have become martyrs,
Catching the attention of the world’s people,
blurring the stark lines between them,
innocent women and children lost,
In the crucible of war, the strategy
of extermination, in the destruction
of their enemy, the terror, the cancer,
within this land, so many innocents lost…
 
Generation upon generations, hopelessly trapped,
within a space carved out, a scar between them,
splitting land, expansion, a constriction,
a tightening of the noose, their vice,
walled in, fenced in, no hope, no freedom,
children picking up rocks, men missiles,
speaking words of the book, of war, of jihad,
condemned to live in a forever state of war…
 
How will this end, what could peace look like,
after the terror from each side, but lost
in the hegemony, the genocide, a truth,
that their strategy, their mission, his rhetoric
has kindled, has stoked the fires, the flames
of an entire generation children, of martyrs,
to take up the cause of the vanquished, revenge,
now, the martyrs have become their enemies…

Through You, God, I am able – v2

Through You alone, my God
I can tear down false idols,
I can turn from the ways of the flesh,
I can move mountains with my faith…
 
Through You, Lord, I am strong,
I am able to stand against the Enemy,
I can stand in the breach, the gap,
unafraid of his slings and arrows…
 
Through You, God, I am able,
to move forward in my faith,
I stand on Your promises to me,
I feel You, Lord, right by my side…

Through You, God, I am able

Through You alone, my God

Only through You am I able

I am mortal, I am made from the dust,
You mold me on the Potter’s wheel,
I long to be used by You, my God,
oh Spirit, my risen, Lord…
 
Only through You I am able,
to mountains, to get out of bed,
You are my strength, my strong fortress,
the power that gives me life…
 
I pray that I am Your willing servant,
an empty vessel to be filled,
that I may pour out a blessing,
that I may go where I am lead…

endless war

ancient conflicts, exploding,
in terror, in genocide,
the struggle far from over,
back before Abram’s time…
 
endless war, dividing,
pulling apart this ancient land,
the struggle between brothers,
children of nations, legacy…
 
what can be the solution,
between these warring factions,
innocents lost in the slaughter,
blood soaking the soil…
 
endless war, continuing,
weapons merely growing more deadly,
the seeds of this conflict, ancient,
children of nations, legacy…
