We see him in his reactions,
as if unsure why he is in a room...
Він шукає вчорашній день
“He is looking for yesterday,”
stalking the halls of his bunker,
dipping into his cup of memory
a world that never was...
Believing his own lies
his self-deception,
No hope, no future,
only loss for this dictator,
This last tsar of Russia...
 
He is a specter, a ghost,
from another age, a time ended...
He is a prisoner of his own making
cut off from reality, the truth,
fed lies to assuage his ego
to encourage him onward
because his end will come fastest
if the war were to end
if other voices are allowed
to shatter the deception,
the lies he tells himself
in his hubris, his vanity...

“He is looking for yesterday,”

Freedom has finally come

She accepted her hammer,
the baton has been passed,
a new generation not going back,
ready to finish the task before us…
 
With every swing of her hammer,
parts of the ceiling are coming down,
a hope is rising in this land, joy,
Freedom has finally come…
 
She has taken the mantle, the charge,
to carry the torch farther, to strive,
to march a little longer, to succeed,
to walk through the door that they opened…
 
With every swing of her hammer,
the glass ceiling is being broken,
a way for us all to strive, to triumph,
Freedom has finally come…

a Hope for our Future,
Happy Warriors on the trail,
seizing the tide of momentum…
 
So much has changed, better,
than the path we were stuck on,
Joy has returned, Promise is rising,

Dystopian

Was 1984 merely prescient
or was this an Orwellian blueprint, a plan,
a new vocabulary, propaganda,
a way to numb us to the chaos
evil, machines, changing our path?
 
Is The Terminator a documentary
today the prequel, the backstory,
giving so much control, of our reality,
to the chips, the computers,
our lives wired for sound?
 
Tracking our every move, our location,
listening to our thoughts, our behaviors,
our interactions with others,
seeing the rise of the bots, the ransom
of our world, our lives.

sharing connection, confidence

 a chance meeting

A chance meeting

a fist-bump greeting

discussing mask mandates

in ME and NH, sister states.

Hoping for an end

to the virus restrictions

sharing connection, confidence

in a brighter future.

A quick stop, a parting

a promise of connection

knowing this was a fork

in my journey, this road.
