invade my #heart, my #soul – v2

shake me, stir me,
crack me wide open;
create an opening, a path;
find a way into my spirit
pour me out, empty me.

pierce my shell, my fear,
my reserve, my clay,
my desire for control;
eternal Love flood me,
Spirit invade my body;
oh Lord, fill my soul.

invade my heart, my soul,
my empty earthen vessel
like the flames on Pentecost;
find rest, an eternal home,
deep within me, oh loving God.

wash me clean,
where I am broken,
restore me, make me whole;
drench my inner self
flood me, cleanse me;
oh Lord, fill my soul.

intentionally broken – v4

our cracked vessels are shattered,

they are intentionally broken,

given at the feet of Jesus,

to allow the Holy Spirit

to pour out of us,

our jars of clay,

of alabaster.

Rich perfume

a gift, an offering

to our risen Lord Jesus

broken, given, poured out,

of our earthly bodies, our clay.

help us to be a blessing – v2

help us to be a blessing

and an encouragement

to our neighbors, to others;

may every one of our words

be a blessing, a hope

may they bring others to God

help us to be a blessing

and an encouragement

to everyone we meet

a living gift of peace, of joy

a blessing, a hope, a future,

may they bring others to God

common, ordinary vessels – v2

common, ordinary vessels

nothing special, imperfect,

but holding God’s love

eternal life within us

the Spirit of God

hope of life eternal

our hope dwelling within

our common, ordinary vessels

Don’t listen to the lies of the Devil – v2

Don’t listen to the lies of the Devil

the sinful nature of Satan

seeking to draw us down

into the pit of temptation

condemning our mortal souls.

Don’t listen to the lies of the Devil

the way he temps, he woos us,

how he offers us treats in this life

a millstone, a condemnation

that leads us to death, to Sheol.
