#Thankful for the Gifts – v2

A moment abundant in blessing
Summer sun shining radiantly,
on the birch cross, a gift,
the focal point, the reason,
planted within her labyrinth.

A rich layered moment,
thankful for the sun, for the Son,
the cross, the way to life,
believing, seeing,
walking on our path.

Light, giving sight,
offering hope, the narrow gate,
the path leading to the cross,
the radiance of the Son,
illumining our way.

Rice Paper Blossoms – v14

Our dying crocuses,
their loss of water,
glorious in their fading
becoming transparent
in the mid-day sun

Like rice paper blossoms
made by the artist, the Creator,
or ones of thin phyllo dough
dying ever so graciously
at the foot of the cross

Looking Down – labyrinth – v2

Looking down,
at my dirty hands,
the dust of the stones
that were gathered and placed

Labyrinth stones
dividing the rows
from the grime of the lawn,
mown and cut

Finishing the rows
seeing the vision
of a place of prayer,
the labyrinth coming to life

Dying crocuses,
glorious in their fading,
becoming transparent
in the mid-day sun.

dying ever so graciously
at the foot of the birch cross.

Rice Paper Blossoms – v12

Dying crocuses
the water leaving
becoming like wax paper
in our backyard,
glorious in their fading,
becoming translucent, transparent,
in the mid-day sun.

Like rice paper blossoms
slowly dying, glorious,
becoming like parchment, wax paper;
a film, becoming transparent,
as if made of thin phyllo dough.
Dying ever so gracefully,
at the foot of your cross.

Rice Paper Blossoms – v11

Standing in the breeze
under the cross
dying crocuses, glorious
in our backyard, the grasses,
glorious in their fading
becoming translucent,
afire in the mid-day sun

Like rice paper blossoms
worn-thin, a parchment,
a film, becoming transparent
as if made of thin phyllo dough
dying ever so gracefully
afire in their dying, glorious
at the foot of your cross

A Series of Squares – v2

The work, the lawn
carved up into a series of squares
crisp edges, overlapping rows
breaking all up, the work,
a section at a time.

Like parts of a maze,
a prayer labyrinth
in the segments, the squares
the rectangles and the edges,
all woven, walked, together

A series of squares,
around the trees, the pines
at the edge of the hill,
between the beds, the flowers,
their soccer field

A pattern of pieces
together a one project
watching the skies
for the clouds above
rounding each corner
to finish the whole

bright, swaying, weightless
glorious in their fading

Dying crocuses
white, melting
glorious in their fading
drying, as parchment
becoming transparent
in the mid-day sun

Like rice paper blossoms

wet so as to be transparent
see-through, open
dying ever so graciously

Rice Paper Blossoms – v4

How to express, to conjure
an image before me
in language of texture
of Georgia O’Keeffe
a vision of flesh and blood

Dying crocuses, alive
bright, swaying, calling
glorious in their fading
becoming transparent
in the mid-day sun

Rice paper blossoms

see-through spring rolls;
dying ever so gracefully

The Beautiful Chaos

We are our own creators
the work of our lives
growing our own gardens
if only in our minds

All of our days,
planting and tending
sowing seeds and watering
pruning in many seasons

Sometimes neglected
a beautiful chaos of us
the bright colors of our days
the darks of our nights

All together, like a labyrinth,
the days of our journey
praying that we are led
back to you oh Lord
