Like gravity

our faith like gravity
we can see neither
yet we know we are bound to the ground
and we are loved by our Maker
we have faith not blindly
we have faith regardless
sure God will provide
God will guard us in our trials

The seed of God

the seed of God
the kernel of God within us
in the soil of our lives
watered by the Spirit
nurtured by the Word
fill by God’s presence
Growing in God’s time
the seed of God
the kernel of God within us
guiding our beating hearts
led by the Spirit
to grow, and do our part

God is at work

our life, our seeds
the kernel of God within us
God is at work
in the soil of our lives
God wants us to commit
to submit our lives to him
God is at work
in all we say and do

Ground our Faith

anchor us Lord
ground our faith
lead us forward
nurturing the seed
the soil embracing
the seed yet growing
roots spreading deeper
life in our faith
standing against the winds
the change that will come

fertile soil

layers of the word
the history of God’s people
fertile soil
nurtured in our hearts
seeds of God’s promise
shards to be planted
fertile soil
held within our hearts

storms in our lives

storms in our lives
waves which will come
winds that buffet
seek to topple us over
roots deep in faith
in the soil of God’s love
growing, seeds of the Word
planted within us
roots deeper
as we grow in faith
able to stand
in the winds of strife

The center of the circle – v2

The Christ candle
the heart of Christmas
the center of the circle
love alive, in the Son

God here with us
just as promised
healing the breach
caused by man

The light shining
bright, as ever
God in the center
of all of our lives

The center of the circle
our lives as worship
guided by his Spirit
until He returns

Still in power

the military, the generals
the elite still in power
what of the people
those who rose up
the joy of the square
the power of revolution
lost in the quicksand
the stagnation of time

January 25, 2013
second anniversary of revolution
in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Eqypt
one of major uprisings of Arab Spring
=====
March 17, 2011
calling on President Obama and the world
to act in the Middle East, especially in Libya and Bahrain,
to stand with the people
yearning to breathe free
and not worrying about the results,
that it is always right to stand for basic human rights
&
on the transformations since the beginning of January -
all the protests in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Oman,
Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Djibouti, Mauritania, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Lost Months

Two years of time, waiting
lost months of the revolution
strife continuing
the hope of a nation
An anniversary bittersweet
is this democracy
all they had hoped for
lost in the dust
the sands of time.

A House Divided - 2

divided government,
a divided people
fissures and shards
a house divided
against itself
left and right
liberal, conservative
not trusting government
part of the problem
gridlock a mess
but electing this reality
a house divided
against itself

A unifying vision

A cry for progress
for coming together
a unifying vision
to guide our nation

to lead us onward
fulfilling the promise
of our nation, our creed
for all of our people

all of us equal
for us all to be free
joined together,
for life and liberty

Competing Visions

black and white
poles of red and blue
competing visions
fighting together
dividing, not binding
our people, our nation
with no compromise
no blending, union
no single vision
