You gift me words

You gift me words,
You enabled me to witness,
to surrender myself,
to You, God, to my purpose,
to become a servant...

You empowered me,
You gave me vision,
You gave me hope,
and for that truth,
I will ever be thankful.

You gift me abundantly,
You pour out blessings,
filling me with hope,
with a sense of calling,
a reason to live…

#Capitalism is not #Christian – v2

The most for our shareholders,
short-term profit at all cost,
standing on our neighbors
not caring for the outcomes
the pain in other places
focused only on the immediate,
on lining our own pockets.

Capitalism is not Christian
taking, gathering, profiteering,
creating wealth for its own sake
maximizing for ourselves
silos full, barns overflowing,
standing on our neighbors
the garden polluted, raped
plundered for short-term profit.

we all could use a worry tree

we all could use a worry tree

we all could use a worry tree

a place to leave our troubles, our struggles,

a place close to us, close to home

away from our loved ones;

we all need to let go, to leave,

our anxieties, our worries,

to give them to our loving #God,

our Comforter and Provider.

The Nature of His Sin – v4

In the moment when Job forgot
the fear, the reverence of God
the awe we should know
the fear of the Lord
our place, His place
when he challenged
when he demanded
his sin became clear
not merely questioning why
demanding an answer
an audience with God -
Arrogance, unthinking;
Oh what had he said,
what had he done…?

Singing the Song of Mary – v3

We sing, joining her
Mary, the mother of our brother,
our Savior, the Christ;
Singing the song of Mary,
the Magnificat, its melody alive
shining in that night

The darkness illumined
by His bright birth star;
Claiming our faith like Mary,
a servant of God, willing,
walking humbly with our Father,
welcoming our King.

First Sunday of Advent
part of a series of sermons,
using the Advent Conspiracy
& poem from last year:
------------
Magnificat

Joining Mary, her song
sung to God, for all generations -
blessings we share, each of us
with her, all creation, blessed by the creator
humble servants are we, walking with our brother
sharing this wondrous message, with her, the angels,
those who have gone before us

A choir, singing her song, our song
of praise, of grace, of God’s great works
rejoicing with our mother, our sister
at all the almighty has done for us,
for the people, the descendants of Abraham
by faith, by his love, all of us saved
Share the good news

Commissioned by Christ – v2

It may not have been like Paul
blinded, given sight
commissioned by Jesus
out on the road

But each of us are called
given power to witness
to share the gospel
to this broken world

Sent to make disciples
to baptize in Your name
to continue Your mission
to do all that we can

Commissioned by Christ
to be His hands and feet
to remain the salt of the earth
to share His light with the world.
