A participation in His Sacrifice – v9

We all are one Body
one Body in Christ;
Sharing His table,
sharing His journey to the cross.

A participation in His sacrifice
is His body, the cup;
Giving His life for us
that we would be bound up.

Gathered in for Glory
to see Paradise;
Standing at the foot of His cross,
Seeing the Price He paid for us.

A New Day Burgeons - v7

A bursting forth, blooming before our eyes,
not some truly gradual event, unfurling
more like water boiling, suddenly, urgently
seemingly going from water to steam;
So is this day, burgeoning, suddenly upon us,
presenting itself as fact, changed from the night
into the brightening morn

A bursting forth, the Spirit, changing our lives,
inexplicably, invisibly, profoundly
our lives not like before, rising on heavenly wings
our spirits soaring to the heights;
The transforming of the Spirit within
changing us forevermore, different,
unlike what we were the moment before

A new life, a new creation, alive,
into a new day burgeoning with promise
filled with God’s grace, if only
we would see it, aware, awake;
Truly alive in each moment, looking,
searching, seeking the divine here with us,
God’s hand upon us, sharing our joy

Call to Worship:
It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name,
O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your
 faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your
deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of
your hands. (Psalm 92:1-4 NIV)
 Unison Prayer:
Loving God, we thank you for this day that we may come into
Your house and worship You. We ask that Your Holy Spirit
would fall down upon us gathered here so that we may
understand all that You would have us hear this day.
We thank you for the Spirit that you have gifted us with.
We pray that our worship would be pleasing in Your sight.
This we pray in the strong name of Your Son, Lord Jesus Christ.
Old Testament Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6-13
*Prayer of Dedication (unison)
Heavenly Father, you have offered us such abundance.
We are so very blessed. Yet, we often think that we have so little.
Some of us may even feel as though our gift is too small.
Thank you for reminding us that even our mustard seed-sized
gift may grow beyond our individual possibility. So, today we
place before you all amounts of gifts – some quarters from
children, some $1 bills from adults, some larger bills and
checks – knowing that you transform our scarcity into your
abundance. Thanks be to God. Amen. (GBOD)

Ablaze – v7

May the Church be ablaze
filled with Your fire;
May the Spirit be burning
within each one.

May tongues of flame
ribbons alight upon us;
May they descend upon us
to give us new life.

Spread Your message
in every tongue, to the nations;
With gifts we have been given
may we transform the earth.

We have hope in this mission
sharing God’s love;
The story of salvation told
in Jesus, the Son.

dead inside – v2

like white-washed tombs
dead inside, decaying,
but the emptiness hidden;
Out of plain view
but God knows our hearts

God knows where faith is missing
when we have left
the faith when we believed;
Following the world
its siren’s song

Alive, A Mighty Army – v2

Alive, a mighty army
the people of God
the dry bones given breath;
The life breathed back in them
the breath of God

The Spirit breathed upon them
the clay of their bodies
into inert flesh;
Alive, a mighty army
the restored people of God

The Seeds Growing – v3

The seeds growing
in the good soil;
The roots deep
in the living waters
of the Word,
the love of God

Bursting the clay pots;
Needing to go out
to spread the seeds we are given;
Offering God’s grace,
the love of God
to the ends of the earth
