intentionally broken – v3

our cracked vessels are shattered,

they are intentionally broken,

broken at the feet of Jesus,

allowing the Holy Spirit

to pour out of us,

our jars of clay,

of alabaster.

 

Rich perfume

a gift, an offering

to our Lord Jesus

broken, poured out,

of our bodies, our clay.

We must #fight for the #dream, the #idea of #America – v3

We are not a nation but a vision, an aspiration as a people,

from many countries, many lands, together as one;

We are not a country but a journey, a quest,

a striving to achieve the dream that must be.

 

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America,

the hope that has buoyed us, the words on those pages,

the blood on the battlefields, the striving for opportunity,

for greater equality, for real justice for all.

 

We are not a nation but a melting pot, a tapestry, a salad, a quilt,

a people, fired in the crucible, forged together as one,

with that one hope, that one dream,

that quest, that one goal, of that brighter future.

 

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America,

for the dream is most certainly under attack,

from without, from within, the lies, the propaganda

usurping the stage, the microphone, the media platforms.

 

We are not a nation, but a hope, that bright city on a hill,

but only if we fight, if we stand in the watch towers,

if we deny the lies, the falsehoods, giving the enemies power,

seeking to take the idea, the dream of America away.

We must #fight for the #dream, the #idea of #America – v2

 

We are not a nation but a vision, an aspiration as a people,

from many countries, many lands, together as one;

We are not a country but a journey, a quest,

a striving to achieve the dream that must be.

 

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America,

the hope that has buoyed us, the words on those pages,

the blood on the battlefields, the striving for opportunity,

for greater equality, for real justice for all.

 

We are not a nation but a melting pot, a tapestry, a salad, a quilt,

a people, fired in the crucible, forged together as one,

with that one hope, that one dream,

that quest, that one goal, of that brighter future.

Future #Curmudgeons – v5

I can see them, so specific,

Now standing by the water,

Fifty years from now

Two old friends, by then

Friendly banter, tall tales,

Fish stories between them.

 

There they were, together,

On the bank of the pond,

In their element, confident,

Seven or nine years old,

No more than that, surely,

Best friends, fishermen on the hunt.

 

Fishing poles, tackle box,

Knotted line, worms,

All organic, simple

A net between them -

Thick with the muck and wet,

As they try to catch the big one

 

Hornpout and koi, and goldfish

As big as their arms

Just out of reach

In the murk, deeper,

Or surfacing, the shallows,

Too near to forget.

 

Seasoned veterans,

Watching their casts,

Already, or so they seem,

On their own, children,

In the park, the heat,

Under the July sunlight.

 

No knee or hip waders yet,

No hidden fishing holes in secret,;

But they will come, of that I am certain,

Along with more practiced yarns

Recited with echoes of memory,

When they are older fishermen.

a lie ripped wide open

A domino poised, in stasis,

on edge, teetering

ready to fall, to topple,

to set another in motion,

lies finding daylight.

 

A seam in the fabric

a cut in the moral fibers

the covenants written down,

a dagger to the heart

a lie ripped wide open,

the surface pulled off.

 

A domino, a step,

for karma, for justice,

the universe balanced,

held on a razor’s edge,

in the crucible of these days.

 

A lie ripped wide open,

indictments unsealed, spoken aloud,

fraud, conspiracy, deception

speaking plainly the harm

setting dominoes in motion

exposing the lies, the costs.

a domino poised – v3

A domino poised, in stasis,

on edge, teetering

ready to fall, to topple,

to set another in motion,

lies finding daylight.

 

A domino, a step,

for karma, for justice,

the universe balanced,

held on a razor’s edge,

in the crucible of these days.

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America

Not a nation but a vision, an aspiration as a people

from many countries, many lands;

Not a country but a journey, a quest,

a striving to achieve the dream that must be.

 

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America,

the hope that has buoyed us, the words on the page,

the blood on the battlefields, the striving for justice

for greater equality, for real justice for all.

 

A melting pot, a tapestry, a salad, a quilt,

a people, forged together, as one,

with that one hope, that one dream,

that quest, that goal, of that brighter future.

 

We must fight for the dream, the idea of America,

for it most certainly is under attack,

from without, from within, the lies, the propaganda

usurping the stage, the microphone, the media platforms.

 

Not a nation, but a hope, that bright city on a hill,

but only if we fight, if we stand in the watch towers,

if we deny the lies, the terrorists, the enemies,

seeking to take the idea, the dream of America away.

We must fight for this country

We must fight for this country,

for it is being taken from us

not by minorities, by immigrants

but by the extremists, fed the lies,

the Big Lie, to hate, to fear those different

different from ourselves, the foreigner,

the stranger, the colored, the natives,

anyone standing in the way,

crushed under foot.

 

We must fight for this country,

for it is being taken from us

we must fight against all enemies,

whether foreign or domestic,

against the entrenched self-interest,

those who deny, who reject,

the dream, the idea of America

woven in our creed, the prayer of this nation,

one land, one people, yearning to be free.
