We must fight for this country

We must fight for this country,

for it is being taken from us

not by minorities, by immigrants

but by the extremists, fed the lies,

the Big Lie, to hate, to fear those different

different from ourselves, the foreigner,

the stranger, the colored, the natives,

anyone standing in the way,

crushed under foot.

 

We must fight for this country,

for it is being taken from us

we must fight against all enemies,

whether foreign or domestic,

against the entrenched self-interest,

those who deny, who reject,

the dream, the idea of America

woven in our creed, the prayer of this nation,

one land, one people, yearning to be free.
