Ancient
ruins of red brick and stone
rising
above the surface of the Loch;
I
stared out into the mist, history,
fog
hung over the water.
I
walk down to the shoreline;
drawn
back in time, my own history.
Shrouded
in that mist,
water
thick with peat
on
the shore of the Loch
alone
with myself, my thoughts.
In this land of my
ancestors
touching something ancient,
abiding,
against the rocks, fragments
of brick
a mist rising, washing in,
by the wind
a glint of sun, shimmering
water,
above the peated deep
Not
really looking for Nessie
within
the mist, the black waters;
gathering
stones from the shoreline
memories
to hold, to keep.

Nadile Porath - ty. I was very aware that this was a gift, a singular moment. I
very gently lifted the dragonfly from the grass and it was on my right hand. I
moved it to my left hand to take the shots and videos. I so wanted it to stay
longer but I could tell how nervous it was, as its wings were moving. That was
like the white admiral butterfly covered in raindrops a few days earlier. It
had shown its nervousness with its tongue going in and out. In both cases, I
really had to still myself in spite of my heart racing. Trying to be
collaborator not predator to get the shots.
