Lord, we come to You in prayer,
Praying for our brother
Heal him, restore him,
Give him peace within his spirit...
 
Lord, pour out Your mercy,
For You are the Master Physician,
Creator, Savior, Sustainer...
 
Lord of our days, our lives,
Set Your hand upon him,
Bring him wholeness and healing,
Work a miracle all the days of his life...

Dwelling in a mind of scarcity

Only seeing debt, obligation, barriers,
fighting indentured servitude
dreams forestalled, smothered,
under the weight of choices;
Dwelling in a mind of scarcity
jealousy at provision, gifts,
no opportunity, challenges, burdened;
Unable to see promise, hope,
Abundance in each moment,
Joy with what we have.

Having what is needed
in this time, this moment,
not more than enough
but enough is abundance
a different way of thinking
of seeing the glass as it is
pouring out a blessing
meeting our daily needs.

An Attitude of Gratitude – v3

Why are you wallowing, fearful,
in self-pity, in self-loathing
hiding under the covers
afraid of the world, the steps,
your path, your daily journey?
 
Arise, wake up, throw off the blanket
the garment of suffering, of troubles,
choose not to despair, to wallow;
embrace an attitude of gratitude,
choose a whole new perspective.
 
For there is so much to be grateful for,
the intimate, the infinite, everything;
All of our steps are numbered,
the hairs of our heads counted;
We are fully known by our God.

An Attitude of Gratitude – v2

I wonder if I should pray aloud – v4

I know God knows my thoughts,

my prayers before they are born.

He knows the number of my days.

The Spirit dwelling within me

fills in the words, my thoughts,

prayers when words won’t come.

I wonder if I should pray aloud, out loud,

speaking the words of my prayers

as if to God it is singing,

the melody of our prayers and

the libretto of our petitions

raised up to the heavens.

Does God long to hear us,

our thoughts, our desires,

the words spoken out loud

the prayers to Him spoken?

Our hope is in His answers,

in the promise of God.

Hard to embrace
joy in our trials
feeling their weight
unable to truly
turn them over to You
We pray for Your presence
that we could let go

Leave our fears, our struggles
on Your altar today
free to feel Your blessing
in learning Your lessen

The Space between the Words

In the space between the words
the things left unsaid, not spoke aloud
in the musings of our hearts
deep within our souls
These are the urgent,
the fervent prayers
the callings to our king
The petitions too painful to give voice
the struggles of our souls

The Spaces between Words

So often, in my prayers,
in the poetry I am given
in the words I am sharing

The space between words
this is where my prayer dwells
the living communication with God

Reaching with my mind, my voice
to walk with my God, my king
to sing a song of praise to him
This is my hopeful offering

Not in words, not on the printed page
not even words mused from my lips
breathed thoughts, sighs, too deep

Calling out to God
singing from my soul’s desires
petitions to my king
these I bring in spaces between words
