I hold Your body, Your blood,
bowing my head in worship,
waiting to share Your love...

I am blessed today
Your love, Your mercy

I hold the memory
of Your sacrifice, O Lord...

coiled trumpets – v2

wearing their royal regalia,
vibrant colors of their clan,
holding to the fence behind them
buglers ready for battle,
their banners held high…
resting, ready at the ramparts,
heeding the battle cry.
 
coiled trumpets, at the ready,
their lips on the mouthpiece,
ready to blow, the battle cry,
strong and steady the archers,
horseback riders lined up row on row,
all of them heed the drummers,
for the buglers, their battle cry…

Fill yourself with Christ,
our lives overflowing,
with joy, with gratitude,
with love, with compassion…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
the blood of our Lord, Jesus,
let Love overwhelm you,
gifting you in this life…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
in our hearts, our spirits,
with the good things of God,
all that is good, all that is noble…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
let His blood wash you,
let joy fill you, heal you,
may you sing for joy…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
Son of our Father,
the Lamb, the Sacrifice,
the source of our life…
 
Fill yourself with Christ,
with the Word, scripture,
may God’s words be on our lips,
our lives witness to God’s goodness,
when we are shaken, may love pour out…

Nature calls us – v2

Nature calls us
dwelling all around us
in whispers of colors,
in the rustling leaves,
wooing of the water,
texture, the smells, alive,
murmuring of creation
calling to us, to our spirits.
to our hearts, to our minds….
 
Nature calls us
to stop, to listen,
the muse of our spirits,
to draw closer to mystery,
joy in each moment, present,
to the sound, light, awakening,
power of each moment,
life all around us, now,
calling to each of us…

Nature calls us

Nature calls us

May we be filled,

What is in your cup,
what is deep within you,
the vessel of your spirit,
broken clay, your body,
that you have been given…
 
What is in your cup,
what you pour within you,
what you let take hold
of your spirit, your soul,
within your daily walk…
 
What is in your cup
defines what you offer,
what pours out of you,
when you are bumped,
when you are shaken…
 
What is in your cup,
your clay, your broken vessel,
who you are, how you serve,
is defined by what is your cup,
for that is what you pour out…

a body of rice – v6

It was a pure moment,
an instant never to be forgotten,
capturing a four-year old’s faith
caught by my ear,
in the snack aisle,
for this moment, the Church…
 
A sleeve of rice cakes
seen for its essence,
in a different place,
broken by clergy,
as the Body of Christ
for the wheat intolerant…
 
My face broke into smile,
before her question,
caught too by her spirit,
and her belief,
in the transformation,
within Christ’s blessing…

Based on Shanequa’s question to me if this
was the body of Christ when we were at Market Basket
on April 22, 2006. She had assisted some weeks earlier at
setting up communion at the Rejuvenation service at our church.
She understood the elements were merely
bread and juice before the pastors’ blessing.

You worship a different Savior

You worship a different Savior
one not rooted in scripture
if you can picture an AR-15
in the hands of our risen Lord Jesus
to stop Rome, His sacrifice, His crucifixion,
to let us die in sin.
 
You do not understand God,
the coming down of Christ Jesus
If you think He would have stopped Rome
with arms, with more weapons.
 
Christ could have called down
Legions of angel armies;
but He came to sacrifice
to die to set us free.
 
We serve a Servant-Savior,
not a Warrior-Messiah;
Christ came as the Babe in the Manger,
the Man who climbed our cross.

We serve a Servant-Savior

We do not understand God,
the coming down of Christ Jesus
If we think He could have stopped Rome
with arms, with more weapons.
 
Christ could have called down
Legions of angel armies;
but He came to sacrifice
to die to set us free.
 
We serve a Servant-Savior,
not a Warrior-Messiah;
Christ came as the Babe in the Manger,
the Man who climbed our cross.

Put down your knife, your weapon;
Don’t you know me Peter
have you really listened to me,
this is not my way, my path.
 
I could call down an angel army
twelve legions of angels
my Father would give me;
but I have taken this cup
I have chosen the lash, the cross.
 
I have chosen the path of the Servant
I know the steps before me;
Do not stand in the way
of my heavenly purpose.

Twelve Legions of Angels

Put down your knife, your weapon;

Don’t you know me Peter

have you listened to me?

 

I could call down an angel army

twelve legions of angels

my Father would give me;

but I have taken this cup

I have chosen the lash, the cross.

 

I have chosen the path of the Servant;

Do not stand in the way

of my heavenly purpose.

Christ is the second Adam - v2

Christ is the second Adam
climbing our cross for us
taking us back to the Garden
where sin entered the world.
 
Christ is the second Adam
praying in the Garden
conforming his steps to the Father's,
submitting to the cross.
 
Christ is the second Adam
atoning for our transgressions
our sins so like Adam's,
the earthly father of us all.
