The Sins Remaining – v2

The sins remaining
though our hands are on their heads
going to the priests to be slaughtered
to pay the awful price

But we are not changing
in greed holding onto our things
offering them as sacrifice;
but the sins remain with us

Looking at the Faces – v3

Standing in this crowd
with our neighbors
Looking at the faces,
fear, yet resolved

Standing for justice,
yearning for compassion,
Loving our neighbors,
we seek a better way

To solve the challenges
the choices before us,
Hope in our future
We stand together, in community

Lifting up our neighbors
those who are hurting,
The State alone is able
to meet their urgent needs

Coming together.
divergent communities,
Speaking with one voice
that our neighbors may be free

All of us deserve
dignity, opportunity,
To live together
in peace and harmony

None left behind
all deserving mercy,
Help when they need it
hope for all of us.

A Free Offering – v3

The sacrifice of Christ
the sentient being
knowing what He was doing
a free will offering
given on our behalf

Choosing to die
not being pushed
taking the cup
drinking of our sin
becoming the sacrifice

Donning the fleece
the unblemished lamb
the mantle upon Him
taking on our stain
our lives in His hand

Giving himself
Doing this freely
that we may live again
hope in Him alone
in the blood of the Lamb

Our Hands Upon Them – v2

We may not like this
the words of truth presented
we have chosen the others
to be our sacrifice

Like the animals
in ancient Israel, the temple,
brought into the tabernacle
to become the sacrifice

The innocent, pure
the animals unblemished
under the law
they had to be clean

Our hands upon them
placing our sins
the nations forgiven
in repenting to Thee

But the blood that will be spilled
the pain that will be felt
because we put our hands on them
not repenting instead

Keeping our money
our treasure, our power
with our hands upon them
they become our sacrifice

We may not like this
the words of truth presented
we have chosen the others
to be our sacrifice

Standing in this crowd
a sea of people
with our neighbors
looking at the faces

Standing for justice
yearning for compassion

loving our neighbors

as one person of faith – v2

As one person of faith
the challenge of his words
to speak out
that they would be heard
those without a voice
on the margin, the street
all those in need

Those who cannot speak
needing their voice
to cry to them, No!
this is too much
no more to give
taking too much
We want to live

In Their Name – v2

We stand, we gather
as a people, a state,
we come together
to tell our leaders
in their name, Change
rethink these choices
Start over again

We must lift up our neighbors,
our sister, our brothers,
our parents, our neighbors
those we don’t yet know
all of them need us
to rise up and speak
to stand up for the least

We can do better
we can fix this
in their name we rise
We need your voices
stand up in love
to help our neighbors
all of us together
speaking out in protest
against these unconscionable cuts
