Like all of them, my neighbors,
we couldn’t believe it,
the words he was speaking
with power, authority,
Jesus, the son of Joseph,
Mary’s first-born,
Speaking words of the Prophet,
Claiming divinity...
 
Their jaws dropped, and mine with them,
Jesus claimed he was the Messiah,
The boy we watched grow up,
Sitting with his parents in the synagogue,
Now saying he was holy,
The long-awaited one...
Blasphemy we all thought...
What else could we believe?

It makes no sense to me
Your choice to live as a man,
to enter the darkness
to live, to walk,
to serve, to heal,
to sacrifice, to die in our place,
Your choice to climb our cross...
 

Why do You love us so,

Why did You come

to open Paradise,

to give us hope here

while we walk here

in the darkness of this world,

while we curse Your holy name?

 

In the end it is love,
Your love, Lord, God,
that is why You love us...
It is nothing we deserve,
nothing we can offer...
You love us because
You are Love, Lord...

Falling at Your #Throne #Poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #faith #prayer #submission #worship #child #children #love #praise #pray #praying #prayer

I saw him moving so quickly
running from his pew, his seat,
on legs so tiny, so small,
Falling before at Your altar,
Falling at Your throne, oh Lord...
not looking for attention
but convicted, Father,
Singing Your praises,
The glory of Your name...
 
He fell to his knees,
in submission, modeled,
by his elders, his family...
He came forward running,
with reckless abandon, falling,
knowing You alone are worthy
of our worship and praise,
Falling to his knees in worship,
Offering You his heart, his day...

New wineskins 2 - v2

New skin rising, growing,
filling the cut, the gap,
more pliable than the older,
a strain where they meet…
 
Scripture with new meaning, to me
a revelation, an epiphany, awareness,
understanding more clearly,
the words come alive…
 
New wineskins growing,
a metamorphosis, emergent,
holding new truths, wisdom,
where the old and new meet…
 
Casting off the old, the broken,
from a chrysalis emerging,
new wineskins, new bodies,
filled with God’s love…
 
Alive in the process,
growing in this season,
stretching myself, striving,
to be a vessel for God...

new wineskins, pliable clay

We are broken vessels,
shards of clay held together,
holding living waters,
flames of the Spirit, everlasting light,
gathered into the hands of God...
 
Our broken pieces are released,
placed by our Potter, 
back onto His wheel,
our clay becoming wineskins
of the living waters of life...
 
We are fired in adversity,
we are made whole in love,
we are emptied to be filled,
to be poured out, a blessing,
a free-will offering of love...

new wineskins
of life, of the Spirit
filled with love
moving, growing…
 
life came to us
in the gospel of Jesus
we are filled with the Spirit
the promise of God…
 
our bodies changing,
stretching, growing,
old flesh being cast off,
new skin alive…
 
new wineskins
our bodies, our spirits,
filed with life, of the Spirit
filled with love…

New wineskins - 2

New skin rising, growing,
filling the cut, the gap,
more pliable than the other,
a strain where they meet…
 
Scripture with new meaning,
a revelation, an epiphany,
understanding more clearly,
the words come to life…
 
New wineskins growing,
a metamorphosis, emergent,
holding new truths, wisdom,
where the old and new meet…
 
Casting off the old, the broken,
from a chrysalis emerging,
new wineskins, new bodies,
filled with God’s love…

New wine skins - 2

New skin rising, growing,
filling the cut, the gap,
more pliable than the other,
a strain where they meet…
 
Scripture with new meaning,
a revelation, an epiphany,
understanding more clearly,
the words come to life…
 
New wineskins growing,
