Instantly – v3

So many of our troubles

in the defining term, “instantly”,

wanting it now, more, more, ever more

things, gadgets, ways of doing this or that

the religion of the new, the better

as if it was truly important

Claiming our joy, sapping our energies,

losing our focus on the important,

false gods that they are, the urgent,

blinding us to the worthy,

the lasting, even the Divine

caught up in the maelstrom of the moment

this specific instant of time

We need to cut loose

the cords, the tethers,

all that binds us

here to the earth

We must let go of our comfort

leaving behind all

not being held by

the things of the earth

God calls us

out of our comfort

to go and to continue

our Master’s work

To go, to follow

our Savior ever

to be His witnesses

to the ends of the earth

The caring for the earth – v2

All of us together were

charged from the very beginning

to dominion and stewardship

a caring for the earth

The earth finite,

needing to conserve, to give back,

to treat our earth with reverence;

Caring for our earth

as each of us are commissioned

as we walk in this life.

Following the World – v2

If we continue,

ignoring the Messiah,

following the world

off the cliff, into the abyss’;

oblivion, away from the covenant,

the commandments, the law,

honoring, with our actions

our lives, forgetting

the promises of God

God’s warning, His judgment

for the sinfulness of man,

the age that was to be

that is to come, destroyed

Only by the grace, by the gifts of Christ

able to turn from the brink,

to step away from the rim

away from the world, its demands

its seduction of wealth, possessions;

false gods, idols that rust,

reconciling us to the Creator

through the conscious choice

the sacrifice of Christ

Following our Savior

to glory, to heaven

not the ways of the world

that leads to destruction
