Up upon the wall, the battlements,

in our walk, in this journey

to be vigilant, to be faithful

trusting ever in God

our strength in this life

Awake, waiting for the morning

for His time for healing

sure that God will provide

that He will be faithful to us

Up upon the wall, the battlements,

in our walk, in this journey

watching for His leading

following our Brother, the Christ

faithful to His teaching

Part of the Community – v2

Something now expected

the town counting on us;

this congregation, this people

to more than just show up

While we raise funds

for the work of the church;

smiles and conversations

with the confections we sell

A tithe in mission, giving,

giving back part of our wealth;

beyond ourselves for service

our neighbors in need as well

Lots of time and energy

coming together as one people;

many hands making the work lighter

smiles on their faces,

enjoying the labor’s fruit

Out in the world

part of this community;

offering a smile in Christ’s name

at the end of the day’s labor

reaping far more than we give

Dear Lord – v3

We come to You waiting, trusting, believing,

sensing You with us, Your Spirit

knowing You will provide, that You will heal us,

that we can walk boldly, safe in Your arms.

Help us when we struggle, when we doubt

when we are anxious even in times of plenty.

Guide us back to You, when we stray from Your path.

We are mindful this week of our nation,

of our Independence Day, of our veterans.

We pray for our country,

for all those who love her and for all who protect her,

especially those standing guard in the

dark places of this world, even now

so that we may remain free.

We pray for all those who are hurting,

who need Your healing touch.

We pray for those on our prayer circle and

for those who have been lifted up this morning aloud

or in silence, spoken within our hearts.

We know You know what is needed and

You will provide that healing.

We pray for those in the Methodist faith

who are sitting in congregations

with a new pastor this morning

and we pray for their new pastors.

May this be a wonderful opportunity

for these disciples, together, as one,

for all of them to grow and to serve You more fully.

We bring our lives to You and we lay our joys,

our concerns, our celebrations and

our worries at Your cross.

Calm us, that we may hear You

Your calling for our lives;

Speak to us now, Your servants are listening, for

We trust in You, our Creator and our Savior.

And we join with all of Christ’s disciples

sharing the prayer that he taught his first disciples, saying. . .

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen.

Unison Prayer 7/1/2012 – v3

Lord God, Creator, Savior of all,

we come to you expectantly,

knowing You will provide all that we need.

We come into Your holy temple,

this hallowed, consecrated ground,

hungry for Your Word of life today.

Heal us where we are broken;

Be with us as we journey

with You this day and always.

Guide us to the path You would have us walk;

Lead us into service, giving generously,

of the gifts we have received.

Speak to us a message for our hearts and

a message to share with the world.

All this we pray in Jesus’ name, the Risen Christ,

our Brother and our Savior.

Amen.

kneeling before Jesus – v10

the synagogue leader,

by name in the scripture,

risking his reputation

but being her father

faith more than fear

doing what he had to

kneeling before Jesus

calling him to heal her

to come to his daughter

dying in her bed

as a father, taking a chance,

risking his reputation

his position, his standing

but kneeling before Jesus

to heal his daughter’s illness

courageous submission

love for her over position

faith more than fear

coming to Jesus, to the Christ,

his plea did God hear

kneeling before Jesus – v9

kneeling before Jesus

the anguished father

the synagogue leader,

risking his reputation

faith more than fear

kneeling before Jesus

calling him to heal her

to come to his daughter

as she was dying in her bed

risking his reputation

his position, his standing

but kneeling before Jesus

to heal his daughter’s illness

courageous submission

love over position

faith more than fear

coming to Jesus

Christ heard his plea

Dear Lord – v2

Dear Lord –

We come to You waiting, trusting, believing,
