With humility, in repentance – v2

With humility, in repentance,
Transparency in this moment
A crisis in the faith, in the Body,
Not focusing on yourselves,
On protecting the wolves,
Who have hidden as shepherds,
Devouring the sheep, the flock…

You must remember your purpose,
As Elders, as leaders, in this moment,
Not focusing on yourselves, complicit,
The bottom line, but on the Body,
The Church, God’s kingdom, the harm
You are doing, silent, unrepentant,
Devouring the sheep, the flock…

With humility, in repentance,

Our toil, our labor,
each an act of worship,
Ministry in our work,
no matter how humble…

Ministry in our work,
not merely earning money,
to do other things,
no matter how humble…

Sharing our witness,
Ministry in our work,
loving as we are called to,
no matter how humble…

Ministry in our work,
on the path, this moment,
sharing our testimonies,
no matter how humble…

Making Our Tents – v6

Out in the world,
in our work, in our living,
witnessing now, to them,
to all those we meet…

While making our tents,
preaching the Word,
sharing the love of Jesus,
until all have heard…

Starting with our neighbors
then out into the world,
in our work, our lives,
our living, day to day…

Faithful, committed,
to our Master’s teaching,
common people sharing,
God’s love for all of us…

Witnessing fully,
in our work, our living,
sharing eternity,
with all we do…

While making our tents,
preaching the Word,
sharing the love of Jesus,
until all have heard…

Ministry in our work

Crouched in the #blackberry bramble – v4

Crouched in the blackberry bramble,
surrounded by thorns, prickers,
an intricate dance to get there,
living barbed wire, razor wire,
tugging on my coat, my jeans
but not a stumbling block, not really
a man on a mission, a purpose,
lowering myself to the dark small fruit
gathering in, berry by sweet-tart-wet berry
scratches growing, a burgundy stain,
on eager fingertips, stretching, reaching.

A family of five, with pails and bowls,
short on patience, gatherers as of old,
of a simpler, primal age, these fruits,
foraging in woods, at the edge of fields,
finding food in the wild, untamed,
uncultivated, natural state, in nature
crouched in the blackberry bramble,
collecting tiny gems, tasty pearls
ready to melt on the tongue, that moment,
now swatting at mosquitoes that stalked us,
seeking to drive us from the field, their forest.

Watching for safety, the whereabouts,
of younger, fitful pickers, eager for fruit,
not the quest, the search, under leaves,
under branches, the clusters hidden, obscured,
shrouded from the view, the sight of less tenacious,
casual picker, distracted, no ready for the valiant,
eager for this fruit, this nectar, ambrosia,
the foods of the gods, the ancients before us;
Gather them in, them all in, for the pie,
the reward we seek, at the end of the work,
full true fruits of our labors, their taste.

The Savior had come - v2

The One foretold in scripture,
the one who was the harbinger,
the one by the River Jordan,
making a way for Him, for us.

The words of John, His cousin,
that the Savior had come in the flesh
calling himself to the background,
Letting Christ take center stage.

“He must increase, He must become greater,
I must decrease, I must yield to Him”;
Christ must take on the mantle,
as He was the One to come.

Each of them in submission,
to their calling their purpose,
there at the Jordan, at the beginning,
in the water, in Christ’s dying,
in His rising from the waters.

Christ’s ministry beginning,
baptizing with the Spirit, love,
John moving to the background,
as the bride to the Bridegroom…
