our calling in our faith;

To be God’s messengers,

His witnesses in this life.

To carry on Christ’s work,

His hands and feet on the earth;

Sharing God’s recipe

His pathway to life.

God can see you – v2

A child on a burning roof

at night, in fear, trembling

crying out for safety

for their parents’ comfort.

The parent crying out,

“Jump! I will catch you.”

The child cannot see;

but the parent says, “I can see you.”

So we are with God,

failing to believe, to see

knowing what we are to do

to take our leap of faith;

But God can see you

trembling, in the darkness,

wanting to hold you tight

to wipe away your tears.

Oh, that we would have faith enough

sufficient to jump into the darkness

to trust that our Father

will be there to catch us,

to lift us, high above our present

to a bright and clear future;

To boldly go in faith

following our Master.

Her Leap – v4

Letting go of the branch

Her wings hardened after unfurling

Shaking off the dust, the earth

The shell of her cocoon, its protection

Her step, her leap, into the air

into the breach, by choice,

choosing to share, to fly, to rise,

to share God’s holy message

Seeing the wings opening

High above the lectern

Sharing God’s holy recipe

Our hope for new life, her own

Step forward, you believers

each of you who claim Christ’s name

who state you are worthy

who follow the Lamb

Let go and be used

pouring out your will

abandon your past

step forward boldly

into the future, together

trusting in God’s provision

providing all you need

just needing to be emptied

hoping to move, open,

to journey a few inches

from my mind, my intellect,

the hand of God

leading, providing

all that I need

if I would but listen

letting go of a future

on gossamer breezes

rising from the branches

on wings of resplendent color

rising to the heavens

to life unfettered

in the freedom of Christ

wanting our children

From the high places

the air in her wings

feeling the movement

steeling her dreams

Spreading Her Wings – v3

Feeling the breath of God’s Spirit

the breeze lifting her

carrying her to speak, to share,

rising above what once was

no longer the little girl

Spreading her wings

just a bit, yet boldly

speaking out loud, her faith

feeling the warmth of God’s love

His presence stirring within her

Knowing how she has grown

from that once young girl

the little girl no more

the young woman she is becoming

as she rises and flies with Christ

Her Leap – v2

From the high places

the air in the wings

feeling the movement

steeling her dreams

Letting go of the branch

her wings hardened after unfurling

shaking off the dust, the earth

the shell of her cocoon

Her step, her leap

into the breach, by choice

choosing to share, to fly

to share God’s holy message

Seeing the wings opening

high above the lectern

sharing God’s holy recipe

our hope for new life
