I don’t want to be left behind

I think what the apostle was saying
is that we should all run the race
he too wanted to be mindful
that he wouldn’t be left behind
We must all be faithful
our focus on that prize
striving in our journey
to not be left behind

things that fade away

each of us runs the race
the race of our lives
the journey set before us
or one we create in time
God wants us to run
the race he intended
to focus on the things that last
not things that fade away
to focus on the eternal
not the stuff of this earth
for this Christ came from heaven
to give us eternal life

the way God would have us run

We are here for a time
one we do not know
only the creator knows our days
the length of our lives
We are to run the race
with integrity, with purpose
seeking the eternal prize
the prize of joy in heaven
We must run the race
the way God would have us run
loving God as we should
and our neighbors as did Jesus

the time of Lent

Not the baby
the journey to the manger
to bring our gifts to God
holy in our journey

The time of Lent
slowing for another purpose
bringing our hearts to God
to find wholeness, healing

Facing our abject sin
our need for the cross
journeying with our Savior
as he makes that fateful choice

Walking the disciples
all the saints before us
a time of suffering, of healing
for we know the awful cost

in Holy Communion with Christ

I am cleansed of all sin
at the foot of the cross
brought close to this reality, this truth,
in Holy Communion with Christ

Here I am washed clean
by his blood spilt for me
eating of his body
the mystery revealed

I am cleansed of my sin
I am made clean, whole
in Holy Communion with Christ
coming to the foot of the cross
meeting my Savior there

a prize not of this world

we seek a reward
a prize at the end of the race
this journey, this quest
this time in the fight
a prize not of this world
not one that will rust
a prize of the next world
of heaven, that will last
we seek a reward
this is why we run
punishing our body in this life
that we reach the finish line
the goal set before us
through the gate of the cross
the narrow path, the way
which leads to paradise

We need to re-center our lives
to get back on track
to focus on Savior
the guide star of our lives
He is our salvation
the one who calls our name
healing us when we come to him
redeeming us to the Father
for this he came to earth
running the race before him
submitting to God’s plan

my stain washed away
healing and wholeness

It was at the feet of Jesus

It was at the feet of Jesus
It was at the feet of my God
loving our brother, our neighbor
my Master, my Lord

All healing and wholeness
love beyond comprehension
at the feet of Jesus
where he came to save us

To this troubled earth
to heal our brokenness
to raise us from the dust
touching our sickness, our sin
washing us clean by his blood

I can cry with the angels
I can be gathered in with the saints
because Jesus touched me

I am no longer ashamed
mired in my leprosy
bowing on my knees

With the leper we shout
we cry out in praise
the need to be humble
to follow Christ at all cost

For we are redeemed
our old live cast off
like new skin of a birthing
a cleansing of our past

We are healed by the love of Christ

We are healed by the love of Christ
his compassion for us
knowing how weak, unworthy
yet dying to heal our sin
Christ showed us mercy
love beyond all measure
grace heaped upon us
when he descended from heaven
to walk here among us
to die on the rugged cross
healing us in that sharing
becoming the lamb of God
the priest becoming the offering
upon the altar of the cross

I have been healed by the touch of Jesus!

I have been healed by the touch of Jesus
as surely as the leper, kneeling in the dust
coming forward to Jesus
asking for his touch
to be healed of his disease
that which cast him out
the mark of the devil, of sin
a symbol on his flesh

I have been healed by the touch of Jesus
by the touch of the Master
the guiding of the potter
the Spirit back to my path
to be healed of my iniquity
washed clean of my sin
that which is ever before me
written on my heart

I have been healed by the touch of Jesus
by his death for me
reaching from the depths to lift me
in him I am set free
to speak of God’s power
to testify to his love
oh yes, I have been healed by the touch of Jesus
in him I am made whole

Jesus’ touch

Jesus’ touch healed me
the depths of my sin
sitting in the pew crying
not knowing where to begin

A hand upon my shoulder
not really speaking a word
the weight of all those years
fading, melting away

Jesus’ touch healed me
the weight of my guilt
the chaos of my life
changed by that touch

Coming before you
studying your word
my life healed, renewed
set on a new path

we read the stories
we yearn for real healing
but who is the agent
to give us this cleansing
Christ is the answer
who provides real healing
touching us with his flesh
the gift of his healing

Clean away the symbols
the stains on my flesh
wash away the judgment
clean my sin
Lord wash me holy
make me again
clean like the morning
the clay of my skin
Mold me, change me
touch me again

make me whole once more

eating my flesh
making me unclean
casting me out
how I am unworthy
cast roughly about

all of us need to be renewed

The world around us a stumbling block
full of dirt, temptations, shiny rocks

We can be put into the story
the characters in sin
estranged from the Father
cast out in fear
We are the lepers
needing the word of God
coming before our Savior

God made light shine in our hearts

The spark of God’s presence
the Spirit planted within
the seeds of our witness
the light shining bright

God made light shine in our hearts
casting away the darkness
the words of Christ burning bright
casting out all fears

Love healing our troubled hearts
the Spirit praying o’er us
God’s own witness
Christ Jesus in the world

Like the curtain of the temple
the veil over Moses’ face
radiance, truth unrevealed
sheltered from their face

In the grip of Satan
the god of this earth
lost in our wilderness
blind to God’s love

Wandering, unfocused
away from God’s path
needing the vision
the truth that will last

Eyes blinded by the Devil

The unbelievers, those outside
in the wilderness, the world
tempted, blinded
by the god of this world

Eyes blinded by the devil
unable to see
the holy mystery
God in the three

The gospel is veiled
kept from the light
wandering aimless
condemned in God’s sight

This is My Son, Marked by My Love – v2

An echo of the baptism
the words spoken for Jesus
descending from heaven
anointing our Savior

Now on the mountain
a message for us
sent from heaven
in the voice in the cloud

In shimmering radiance
speaking from within the cloud
God spoke to us,
He speaks to us now

This is my Son,
marked by my love.
Listen to him, always,
every word that he spoke

Each a holy blessing
the musings of love
Bought by a sacrifice
made complete in his blood

This covenant we offer
sacrificed in love
God bringing us to Him
in His offering of Love.

In shimmering radiance

God spoke to us,
This is my Son, marked by my love.
Listen to him, always,
every word he spoke
each a holy blessing
the musings of love
Bought by a sacrifice
