Restless Souls - v2
The maw of the earth
gaping open, awful
restless souls
not finding people
not a place of rest
trees toppled, scattered.
An open wound
remaining, unstitched
broken stones,
overturned earth
needing mending
so they may rest.

Letting them Rest
Even in driving by
feeling the sense of relief
Letting them rest
the dead buried in the ground
covering their graves
A bit more commotion
the sound of the trucks
giving them perpetual care
honoring our dead
