Finding the Lord

in my seeking, my study
my prayers, in my asking
in humble prayer, over and over,
finding the Lord in the scriptures
in the lessons, the answers revealed,
in my day to day
whenever I slow myself,
let go of my worries
turn my life over to God

As the study began

Little could I imagine
how my life would change
at that beginning of the time set apart
to study your holy word
How you would bring her into my life
her daughters too
bringing me joy beyond belief
a faith to heal my soul
Day by day and week by week
entering into the Word
week by week and year by year
sharing your love
in rhythm and words

Sanctifying Grace

Growing, living, acting out
the grace, the faith that lives within us
in piety, through study, by action
a natural response to the grace so freely given
Whether we have to go back to the start,
to the grace waiting for us before we know about it
when we stumble, and we will, knowing God
will bless us with his grace again and again
always ready for us to come home
always eager for us to want relationship
to grow in our faith, to share his love
to the whole world, to all the earth

Learning for Life

We grow or die, in our faith, in life
we learn and grow, through study
But there is no magic cure, no shortcut
Growth comes from beginning
Committing ourselves to the work
to scripture, Your story,
the story of the saints, fellowship
and the sharing with others
Overcoming doubts, fears, excuses
liberates, nurtures, feeds us
prepares us for the work
we are call to, in love
