blood on our hands - v3

so many towns, locations, moments,
names which we know, staggering,
innocents slaughtered
in halls, classrooms
a raging inferno
Hell here below

blood on our hands
mental health forgotten
in name of freedom
carnage repeating
guns now increase
more will be purchased

will reason intervene,
will spines be stiffened
will a filibuster be broken,
stepping back from the brink
or will more arms be loosed
in our land, on the streets

may your face shine down upon us

may your face shine down upon us
may you hear our cries, save us
lead us on your path, oh Lord
do not forget, forsake us.

may your face shine down upon us
only then will we be saved
redeemed in your righteousness
raised from our grave.
