I
first heard it, driving,
tears
welling up, uncontrollable
hearing
my own gasp
echoing
in the car
An
audible gasp, remembered
all
of us brought into tragedy
by
the radio, TV screens, the images
not
wanting to believe
An
audible gasp, in horror,
the
innocents lost in their youth
not
removing the bodies
knowing
death reigned inside
An
audible gasp was our common response
as
each person faced terror
alive
in our hearts that day,
Never
to be forgotten
