In
the lee of the schoolyard
bushes
shrouded still
in
the shadows of early dawn
lavender
purple lilacs,
unopened
blossoms
dark
shading, color, just like
rich
black raspberry ice cream
with
the rising of the light,
softening,
brightening colors
from
that darkness to pale lilac
