slowing moving the items
gathering steam, momentum
feeling inertia give way
finally reaching the tipping
point
seeing material progress
floor space becoming visible
screens where windows had
been
felt removed from the foundation
winter giving way to spring/summer
slowing moving the items
preparing for the weekend
the coming of the dumpster
the work crew, the family
all that has been set in
motion
to clear away the clutter
the things that had been
gathered
stored, saved, just in case.

Moist, but not necessarily chewy – v4
As
we climbed into the car after the school day
I
asked for details, for the truth
of
the girls in the back seat;
The
chocolate was already consumed
before
asking, before it was allowing
more
candy to be enjoyed
Two
brownies was her answer
wanting
more information
asking
if they were chewy;
Moist
was her response
Moist,
but not necessarily chewy,
to
her older sister’s consternation
Enjoying
a laugh on the way home
after
the school’s Valentine’s Day party;
Her
answer precise, perfect
something
for the memory books
that
her brownies were moist,
but
not necessarily chewy
