The grace of his coming
down from heaven above
the sacrifice of the savior
the power of God’s love
Grace in action
alive in you and me
the Spirit calling
all that we should be
Humble servants
following our king
leading others to God
oh let the heavens ring
Grace in action
whenever people turn
away from the world
into the arms of God
Leading others
by the example of our days
following our savior
walking in His ways

Red is the Color
Red is the color
the color of a saint
the flames of Pentecost
burning in their hearts
White is the color
the color of a saint
the Transfiguration
the sacrifice of Christ
Blue is the color
the color of saint
the water making the clay
the earth to come to live
The rainbow is the color
the color of a saint
all of us are brothers
all children like Christ
All of us are worthy
because of His grace
all of us to be loved
as we ourselves are loved
a piece of God burning
alive in our hearts

Because He Died - 2
My life is changed
because He died to set me free
I have hope
because He died to take away my stain
I do not fear tomorrow
because He died that I may live
I live anew
because He died and rose again
I will see Him face to face
because He is Risen

But for His Grace - 2
Forgiven, alive
a future assured
only because of Christ
His holy sacrifice
But for His grace
His love in dying
only because of the cross

living as His disciple
sharing as I am able
the love of God

Held in Their Arms
Gently held
as if in their arms
before their own dying
gracefully to the ground
One of their brethren
much more than a stranger
held in their loving arms
before they all fall

Email from Every Child Matters - 10/29/2010
With the election just days away, we are working hard to ensure that the needs of New Hampshire’s children are not forgotten.
This year, with the help of a committed team of phone bankers, we are reaching out to thousands of unmarried women and urging them to make their voices heard by voting in the election. We've already begun our work to reach out to 20,000 women across the state!
Unmarried women (which includes women who are not or never were married, divorcees, heads of households, and widows) represent the largest growing non-voting demographic in our country. If you know a woman who falls into this category, please reach out to her and ask her to vote on November 2nd. And remind her of the many reasons why the children in our state need that vote:
- More than 31,000 New Hampshire children live in poverty.
- Almost 1,000 New Hampshire children were confirmed abused or neglected. And in America, every six hours a child dies from abuse or neglect.
- Child care and early learning costs as much as college tuition, but it gets much less government funding.
- 24% of New Hampshire’s 4th graders scored below basic reading levels.
- In New Hampshire, 6% of Elementary School children and 35% of Middle School children are responsible for taking care of themselves after school.
- Over 50% of New Hampshire’s Medicaid-enrolled children are not getting dental care.
Find out how the candidates stand on issues that affect children.
Then Vote.
Every Child Matters in New Hampshire is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to make children a political priority in New Hampshire. For more specific information, please visit our website at www.everychildmatters.org/nh2000 M St. NW, Suite 203 Washington, DC 20036

email of 10/28/2010 from NRCAT - regarding torture and the vote on Tuesday, November 2, 2010
Dear Friends:
When Scott Brown was elected to be a Senator from Massachusetts after publicly declaring his support for torture, we all thought it was an aberration. On Tuesday, November 2nd, however, we face the possibility of electing not just one, but many new supporters of torture to the U.S. Congress. This would be a catastrophe. YOU CAN help prevent it by going to the polls on Tuesday and casting your ballot for an anti-torture Congress.
Your vote alone, however, will not be enough. Please encourage your friends, family, neighbors, and members of your congregation to go the polls as well. Share with them the NRCAT Action Fund Congressional Vote Scorecard which rates all current Members of Congress with respect to their record on torture. Make sure that you check out our Voter Guides to see if we’ve produced one for your state or district. You can make a difference – together we can still elect an anti-torture Congress.
Thank you for your help – get out and vote to end torture!
Sincerely,
Matt Hawthorne
Policy Director

Breaking Free
The lift of the breeze
pushing against the leaf
the water of the dew
pulling at its edge
The stem breaking free
from the branch of the maple
falling with the confidence
of a platform diver
Like a little bird
bravely flying from the nest
the brilliant color
dying in a beautiful dance
Landing on the carpet
like sunlight on the ground
though much of it in shadows
the yellow all around

Would that we

More Alive in Their Dying
The foliage of autumn
the leaves in their turning
before their dying
more alive than most
So many going
moping through their days
needing to look up
more blue skies that gray
Each of us gifted
a creation to ponder
the hands of the master
bringing all into life
All of us journeying
walking this earth
we should be joyful in our dying
bringing us new birth

Alive in Their Dying
Oh how grand
watching the breezes
the yellow of the maple
before the azure dome
more of the sky showing
as each one descends
alive in their dying
until their glorious end

the leaves now falling
the dew creating the tipping point
encouraged by the breeze

Smelly Fish
Smelly fish
left on the shore
in the nets, the boat
not theirs any more
Left because he called
come, follow me
leaving their home,
their lives, the sea
Going into the world
to be fishers of men
following them still
doing all we can
Faithful to God’s call
sensing His grace
going as we are called
until we see His face

Hearing Mark
Hearing Mark
calling us now
to go and do
to change somehow
Not when we are ready
not in some measured pace
going as we are led
leaving this place
Urgently going
spreading the news
no time to wait
no time to lose

Leaving All
When the waters parted
when heaven opened
When the Master called
Leaving all
into the wilderness
beginning his ministry
his destiny unfolding
in real-time
Leaving all
when the Master called
the nets, the catch
their families on the shore
going to be fishers
of men instead
leaving all
as the Master led

Offering Our Prayers Up
Offering our prayers up
as we live out our days
never fearing tomorrow
God is with us today
His wisdom greater
than ours will ever be
his answers wiser
than the prayers

Now
Going now,
without any delay
needing to go
to share Jesus today
Too many souls
lost in the fields
away from God’s love
needing to know
how to come home
Too many sheep
all of the one flock
the shepherd calling
using our voice
We are to call
the least and the lost
no time to lose
tomorrow may be too late

Quickly
Quickly, at once
without any delay
the urgency of this message
the coming of Christ
His work important
now handed down to us
the work of the ages
sharing his message of love
The words explosive, seemingly as if
today were the only day to share, to do,
needing to hurry
that all would know Christ
The incredible gift, grace
fulfillment of scripture
leave everything
and come to Jesus
Quickly, at once
without any delay
the message of Jesus

And in the sixties in late October!!! How great is that!
If we only had today to enjoy, what would we do

without any delay
the urgency of this message
the coming of Christ
His work important
now handed down to us
the work of the ages
sharing his message of love
The words explosive, seemingly as if
today were the only day to share, to do,
needing to hurry
that all would know Christ
The incredible gift, grace
fulfillment of scripture
leave everything
and come to Jesus

Seeds Grow
In the whisper of our Maker
the breath of life given
a seed planted
in the humble clay of man
a piece of God to grow
if we submit to Him
letting the Spirit guide us
in the Master’s plan
The seeds grow
the flock of our Savior
gathering the sheep
from every field,
all the nations
judging us,
by how we treat the strangers
each of us children
of our loving God
The harvest coming
not planned by human hands
in God’s time only
when the fields are ripe
all people judged
the ledger of the Master
looking at our lives
how we loved our neighbors
the least of the brothers of our risen Lord

A mirror of Christ
Made in the image
a mirror of Christ
perhaps nascent
growing in our hearts
a piece of the Creator
in the clay of our lives
growing with us
the Spirit within us still
All of us children
each one given
the breath of life
an ember of the light
planted in our hearts
growing within us
if we heed His calling
humble before God
and love for our neighbors
A lesson of the story
the judgment at the end
when we all come before Jesus
our Master, our King
how we treated others
the least of His friends
to see the gates of heaven
that we may enter in.

Calling Us to Look
Calling us to look
to see our Savior
the risen Christ
to see our Master
in the face of each stranger
to offer love
humbly in His name
He is the judge
He is the Master
we are the sheep
the workers in the field
in the vineyard
caring for each other
in the loving name of Christ
Calling us to read
perhaps more deeply
the words of our Savior
spoken in book
the judgment seen
in how we treat the stranger
loving our fellow man
as if she is the Christ

Dancing with God – v2
A wonderful concept - dancing with God;
but are we ready for him to lead,
to guide us through life’s passages
turning our freewill over
over only to Him?
Becoming a follower
disciple of the Master
feeling his hand on our hip,
our back,
submitting to his will
The yoke is easy;
but it is a yoke nonetheless
hard choice
for a society, a people
wrapped up in the gospel of “me”

Mindful of that Sliver
Needing to be mindful
as we go about our days
that a sliver of Jesus
lives inside of us
in our neighbors
as much as in our hearts
going with us
as we live our lives
Like John stirring
in Elizabeth’s womb
do we feel Jesus
crying out to us
from within the strangers
those we pass on by
do we hear him crying
when they need out assistance
when we turn away?

Through the Branches of Yellow
Ablaze this morning
looking out my window
the sun coming down
burning off the clouds
the roadway beyond
through the branches of yellow
the golden dying
of the maple and elm

In Our Sister’s Face
Do we see Jesus
in our sister’s face
when we are unjust
when we fail to share his grace
Will we bow,
will we be cast out
when the judgment comes
when we come before the throne of grace
What will we say
when He opens the pages
when he looks at how
we turned our face
When our neighbors
when our brothers,
our sisters were crying out in pain
what will we say?

From the Beginning
The judgment ready
from the beginning
the creator seeing
into each beating heart
Knowing all our histories
how we treated our neighbors
because all of us
are part of our creator, our God
Connected ever
not just the father, the spirit
the son who came to earth
a human just like us
Something of the stars,
the dust, the creator
all of us connected
to the whole true whole
When we hate our neighbors
when we treat them unfairly
when we hold grudges
when we set the apart
All of this harming
our neighbors
but hurting our savior
and hurting ourselves
All connected
one grand theory
the creator planted love
inside each human heart
We are to listen
his voice calling
each one to love
as if to himself

A Piece of Eternity
A piece of the creator
of eternity
planted in each of us
as he has planned it
The words of Christ
describing the judgment
the test of the law
how we treated each other
But not in the abstract
connected to nothing
the way we treat one another
as if unto God
Maybe more to this
if we look ever deeper
the words of Christ
describing eternity
As we treat our neighbor
so we treat our savior
because of piece of him
is alive in each one
The dust, the breath
the light of the savior
all in that kernel
planted in each human heart

Shards of God’s love
Shards of God’s love
shining in each beating heart
a seed of heaven planted,
within the clay of each one
Needing to be tended
to be fed with your love
his breath giving us life
all of us connected
to our creator, to all eternity
If we could but see
that light in our neighbors
how different would the world
would all life be
As to the least of these
the savior will say in the gathering
bringing the sheep in
to the gates of heaven
How many more
would be gathered in
if the words of the judgment
were understood by man
A hint of divine truth
the connectedness of creation
the creator in each beating heart
in the face of every stranger

Seeing God’s Face
Shards of God’s love
planted, a seed
within the clay of our body
his breath breathed in
all of us connected
to eternity
If we could but see
seeing God’s face
in all the people we see
would the world be as it is
would despair be replaced
would hope spring eternal
Would the judgment come
as Christ describes it
if we saw the face of God
in each person we meet
would the world be different
if we could sense it
the shards of God’s love
shining in each beating heart

Pieces of God
God before all
before anything was
in the stars and the dust
in the water, in love
Pieces of God
within each beating heart
the blood in our veins
in the ground and the dirt
All of us connected
part of the divine
rejecting ourselves
when we turn from our God
The judgment more clear
if we center on love
that rejecting each other
is rejecting a piece of God

Glad in Our Hope
Not in our timing
ever waiting on God
trusting in his goodness
in the hope of things to come
Glad in our hope
cherishing God’s presence
loving us with his care
offered new each day
God the same ever
faithful, unending
we are the ones who waiver
who sink below the seas
God offering hope
salvation to the believers
a bright tomorrow if we follow
answering God’s call to come
follow me

Those who trust in the Lord
Not the difference of age
the young or the old
something deeper yet
the story to be told
Strength for our days
our time here on this earth
measured by those
who trust in the Lord
Able to rise
to walk under a burden
to carry on in the face
of trials and struggles
continuing on
in the path of our lives
rising on wings like eagles
in him is our strength

To Touch – v2
More than the others
senses of our bodies
more than sight, taste
more than our hearing, our sense of smell
all of these tied to memory
to our place in the world
yet touch so much more
how we live, how we love
how we relate to one another
Our bodies, our clay
the importance of one
to touch, to reach, to change
to lovingly touch our neighbors
loved ones and strangers
all drawn to our touch
to the connection, one to another
to the tactile sense of belonging
only in our touch
The sense of our creator
the potter molding us
true relationship with our savior
all in the organ of our skin
the sensation, the nerves
each one alive, changed forever
when another brushes
caresses, makes connection
through our sense of touch

To Feel the Hand of the Potter
To dance with the creator
to feel the hand of the potter
guiding my steps in this life
in the touch of my savior
Living with the Spirit,
moving my trembling feet
sometimes when I am willing
able to walk on the waters
Alive in those moments
the gentle touch of my brother
steering me safely
through the shadows of this life
The hands of my maker
as I let the yoke fall on me
going with my master
to the hill of Calvary
Only in following the shepherd
to feel his staff’s guiding
only in the touch of the potter
am I bound for eternity

Their Strength Renewed
Not our bodies
tired as they may get
our souls, our spirits
trusting in the Lord
our strength renewed
our hope restored
pushing through today
knowing tomorrow
a future in glory
at the end of our path
leaning on God
trusting in his promise
walking beside our Lord

The Same Hope
Each of us blessed, the same hope
in the comfort of our creator
in the gift of our savior
his amazing grace
A hope for a future
promised if we act
believe in his offer
accept his precious gift
New each day
waking with the dawning
our choice to follow
to enter humbly in
Walking with our savior
in this troubled world
to be his disciples
out in the field
The work to be done
no time like the present
we are to be his hands and feet
his voice here and now

Our lives, our witness
nurtured in your time
bearing fruit of your choosing

pouring down from heaven

Preparing Our Soil
Sowing, planting
praying, waiting
for a time of God’s choosing
our faith in the persistence
our prayers unceasing
in the patience in our waiting
trusting in the Lord
The growth to come
answers to our seeking
calling out to God
in the way of his grace
in his mercy revealed
his love unending
raining down on us

Ask, Seek, Trust, Wait
Ask God for our desires
coming to him in prayer
Seek his answer in our lives
knowing that he cares
Trust in his promise
his plan is for us to prosper
Wait for his answer
coming in his own time

Acting While We Wait
Not in doubt but in trust
turning our prayers
all our lives
over to God
Acting while we wait
for the answer to prayer
going out into the world
being the hands and feet of God
A witness to our faith
praying without ceasing
knowing God will answer
not in our time but his

For our prayers
our faith to bear fruits
our offerings to God
we must believe
in the fulfillment
the answering of prayer

grace pouring down
his love raining down

cleaving us to him
forever and always

God Answers Prayers
Not something to question
an absolute truth
God answers prayers
from the depth of his love
All of us must prayer
offering up to God
the deepest desires of our hearts
our thanks for his gifts
We must trust
believe in his grace
seeking his presence in our lives
in our joys and times of strife
God will answer our prayers
so we must continue in prayer
pray without ceasing all of our days
humbly coming before God

Not Speaking Prayers
When God listens
when our savior hears
does God hear us speaking prayers
does he hear true faith
believing in his goodness
that he listens that he responses
that he truly answers all of our prayers
Do we offer true worship
faith in the prayers we raise
are we persistent like the widow
but do we see God as the judge
unfairly denying her pleas
or do we comprehend
God answers prayers
not in our immediate
our selfishness
but that God answers all
in God’s holy time

A Parable to Teach
Christ needing to remind them
to remind each one of us
always to pray
to lift our hopes, our concerns
our struggles and joys
to God, the creator
the ruler of heaven and earth
God will listen, God will answer
maybe not as we would expect
but always in his mercy
wanting the best
only good for us
pouring out his grace
down upon us
Needing to pray
ever and always
without ceasing
persistent in our calling
our petitions to our maker
trusting ever
in the goodness of God

The Kernel Nurtured
In our praying, in our worship
in praises that we sing
the kernel of faith
nurtured in our living
ever seeking,
asking for the savior,
the creator to come in
to dwell within our hearts
We are the good soil
the seed planted
we must be faithful
as we walk this earth
leaving our past
the world behind us
guided by the Spirit
walking in the light

Always pray
never become discouraged
trust in the Lord
he will always answer
Our prayers lifted
up to heaven
whether spoke or silent
the Lord will hear
Be faithful
pray without ceasing
the desires of our hearts
come from our maker
He will answer
righteous in his giving
offering what we need
all of our days
God is faithful
generous, with mercy
His grace unending
his love pouring down

Always Pray
Though they were with him
the disciples of Jesus
walking with him
all through the promised land
Though they saw him
healing the people
giving hope in God’s name
wherever they went
Even they,
those closest to the savior
needing to be taught
a reminder to pray
Witnesses to
the Son praying
needing to be told
always to pray
The lesson still
applicable to us
needing to seek Him
all of our days
Ever praying
living as worship
following his example
all of our days

Praying with Our Hands
Not just in our words
whether spoken or silent
praying with our lives
with the way we walk this earth
Praying with our hands
in humble submission
doing the work we are given
where we are planted
Trusting in God
in the timing of his planning
that righteousness will come
in the answers to our prayers

humbly before our savior
as children seeking
knocking on the doorframe
our petitions to our God
Rising from our knees
comfort in the offering
knowing he will answer
righteous in his actions
We are to act
to live out our faith
waiting with patience
while we pray without ceasing
Trusting in God
the provision of his promise
his answer righteous
consistent with his plan
The timing unknown
but to the creator
but confidence in his answer
he will not deny us
if we bring to him our desires
raised in righteousness

Put Your Trust in Him
Put your trust in him
only in God
all else if false
a fleeting as grass
God is true
from the beginning
to this day
His love for us
forever will it stay
We are the children
those he has called
we should turn to him
and away from the world
Our trust in him
all of our days
his Spirit guiding
where we must go
Praying to our savior
is promise is sure
hope in him only
of this we are assured

Answer me when I pray
Our cry in the night
when we don’t know what to do
when we are turned around
when we feel far from You
Answer me when I pray
in our humanness
needing to trust in you
in your holiness
You will answer Lord
of this we are assured
but we want it now
the desires of our hearts
Needing to be patient
persistent at the same time
trusting you will answer
in the appropriate way

Continuing to Pray
Continuing to pray
because I know God answers
not always in the way I ask
or when I want it
But God is faithful
hearing our cries
here, right beside us
in the trials of our lives
God’s will in righteous
his plan is just
He will answer
when the time is right

Hear My Prayer
Crying in the night
from my struggle
calling to God
that he would hear my prayer
Wanting an answer
now, this instant,
knowing that God’s answer
comes in God’s time
Continuing to pray
because I know his promise
to answer prayers lifted
raised up in his holy name

To make all things right
God moving
to make all things right
reconciling us to him
when we turn from the world
He hears our prayers
answering in his time
all to be revealed
at the end of the age
His purposes holy
his wisdom sublime
loving us completely
his grace abounds
we must believe
heeding his call
praying without ceasing
trusting in his promises
his love to rain down

At Peace in You
No matter the world
the injustice that I see
at peace in you
to make all things right
trusting in you
in the wisdom of your plan
serving in my time
doing all I can
Praying ever
lifting petitions up
joining with the saints
in sing praises
thanking you ever
for the guiding of your hand
acting while I wait

That Christ Would Find Faith
The second coming, the coming of Christ
in victory, at the end
maybe it is waiting, in God’s time
waiting for us to change, to believe
that Christ would find faith
when he comes to the earth
That we would believe in his promise
heaven come to the earth
answers to our prayers
in the timing of God
trusting in his promise
to be with us always
turning from the world
to the promise of our savior
his promise in the Word

Blind to the Proofs
How can we not notice
how can we not be aware
God answers our prayers
if we but ask
What he did in creation
the promises he has kept
what he offered in Jesus
in his sacrifice on the cross
We are blind to the proofs
or else we would be on our knees
ever praying to our father
the maker of all that is
Knowing he will answer
as he always has
ever should we be praying
to our savior, our God

A Righteous Judge
God so different
in all his ways righteous
hearing our pleas
our crying out
our seeking justice
God answering us
when we cry out
ever with us
in our struggles
right beside us
Working for us
always for good
God in his mercy
caring ever,

To Serve
The ruler of heaven
creator of all
come to earth
to serve, to die
that we may live evermore
Emptied of power
made of the clay
the Spirit leading
showing him the way
Offering himself
the unblemished lamb
a ransom for all
the debt paid
forever and always

A Ransom - 2
The debt paid
given as a ransom
His life for my own
that I may live
Going to Calvary
climbing the cross
His life poured out
that I may live again

God’s Grace is Equal
Love given to us
if we but accept him
commissioned to work
in the vineyard
workers in the field
sowing God’s love
God’s love equal
the gate opened
eternity in heaven
to all who believe
the last as the first
all to enter in
God’s grace given
equally to all
