In no man’s land, in the middle,
a nation, a people, caught for this moment,
in the space between administrations,
two tracks, at least, in this moment, a transition…
 
Competing interests, self-defense, escalation,
but also, words of peace, of movement, change,
an endless progression, a radical turn,
both paths lie ahead for the choosing…
 
In no man’s land, in the middle,
a nation, a people, caught for this moment,

War demands attention, the barrage continues,
arial attacks, terror from the sky, relentless,
drawing attention from any future, peace,
that may rise from the carnage, negotiation…

You are my waking dream,

my hope forever, eternal,
my light, my love, my joy,
my prayer for today, tomorrow,
for a wholeness, an end,
to the ache of my desire,
my longing to touch you,
to be with you, my heart, my love…
 
You are my waking dream,
my hope forever, eternal,
you are my wife, my love,
the air within my lungs,
my way through the wilderness,
the mother of my children,
the love of my earthly life,
the wellspring of my joy…

Don’t substitute your judgement

Choosing to defy the king, our God,
Not going where He leads us
Don’t substitute your judgement,
When God speaks to you clearly…
 
Stay on the path God has written,
Out of the love He has for us,
Knowing how broken each of us are,
And yet loving us completely…
 
Listen to the Spirit, God’s wisdom,
Don’t turn to the right, the left,
Focus on God’s purpose, His calling
For every day of your life…

We cannot stop,
for they cannot stop,
they must fight,
we must stand with them…
 
We must stand our ground,
we must remain resolute,
they need us more right now,
to stand in the gap, the breach…
 
We cannot stop,
for they cannot stop,
they must fight,

This is a war of attrition,
until the tipping point,
they face an existential threat,
and we must be faithful…

Half-truths, half-measures – v2

Half-truths, half-measures,
Tuning in to different echo chambers,
our own truth, our own reality,
no common ground, no overlap,
just shouting from the barricades,
the ramparts, our own forts, our camps,
fed the same set of facts, incessantly,
but what if they are all lies…
 
Half-truths, half-measures,
Believing the lies, propaganda,
echo chambers louder, shouting,
no common ground, no overlap,
just groupthink, hand wringing, so sure
that we are right, but are we certain,
fed the same set of facts, incessantly.
but what if they are all lies…
 
Half-truths, half measures,
An endless feedback loop, repeating,
not checking our facts, our sources,
edited video clips debasing, appealing,
twisting what we see with our eyes,
lemmings to the cliff, the abyss,
which ones are drinking the Kool Aid,
fed the same set of facts, incessantly.
but what if they are all lies…

Unsafe, at war, struggle in the body,
in the crucible, in the unknown, terror,
what might be, what is, chaos swirling,
a word salad, dicta, unprecedented,
unsafe, uncertain, unknown, fully,
not sure of safety, reality, our hope,
choosing one camp, one party,
one truth above all else…
 
Unsafe, in the maelstrom, the storm,
winds of change, of division, fissures,
of triumph, of rejection, of terrible strife,
too much unknown, uncertain, reality,
lost in the shouting match, destruction,
in our own echo chambers, distant,
from our families, our neighbors,
wearing our colors on our sleeves…

A living fervent prayer,
in this now, in this moment,
for wisdom, for discernment,
praying for a different outcome
than what came to pass,
not knowing, not seeing,
what was part of God’s plan,
 
My vision so short, so weak,
the terror so real, so close,
wanting something else,
a hope, a future, a dream,
but facing what is, before me,

we hurt God – v2

we hurt God, the Church,
when we sin against our bodies,
we bring harm to the Body,
to all that has meaning,
to our calling, our purpose,
our own sense of being,
when we give into temptation,
when we sin against our bodies…
 
we create estrangement,
separation, division, a great loss,
giving into the world, the flesh,
the way of the devil, of satan,
the carnal part of our being,
pulling ourselves away from
our purpose, our calling,
from the Body, from God…
 
we hurt God, the Body,
when we sin against our bodies,
we hurt our loved ones,
we lose our focus, connection,
to our calling, our purpose,
our own sense of self-worth,
when we give into temptation,
when we sin against our bodies…

God is sovereign, immortal,
we are of dust, of the earth,
our flesh is so fragile,
we are so small, tiny,
and yet, God loves us,
brokenness and all…
 
We are so small, tiny,
we are so broken, shattered,
God loves us just as we are,
the Creator of the universe,
came to earth and saved us,
God redeemed us from death…

Teach me Your ways, oh Lord,
that I may walk in Your Light,
show me what I must do,
to be fruitful in this life…
 
Open my eyes to Your truth,
the bounty of Your grace,
heal me of my brokenness,
redeem me from my grave…
 
Show me my path, O God,
how I must live rightly,
equip me for my journey,
where I should go to serve…
 
Pour out Your love, Your blessing,
fill me completely, overflowing,
that I may be poured richly,

the enormity of God, truly,
even the word enormity,

God is eternal, omnipotent,
seated on His throne in heaven,
God is Sovereign, Creator,
Lord over the universe…
 
All life flows through Him,
God the Creator, the Father,
all life is redeemed through Him,
God the Son, the Messiah…
 
God is life, love, promise,
God is eternal Spirit,
God is our Sovereign,
Lord, over life and death…

I submit my will to You, Lord,
focus my heart, my spirit,
on You alone, oh God…
 
I long to serve You, Lord,
to walk beside You,
teach me Your ways,
that I might be Your vessel…

Down in the weeds, the bush – v2

Longing for you, baby,
to come together, one,
to dive in completely,
making love, having sex,
partaking of all of you…
 
My fantasy, my reality,
my daily dream alive, living,
alive in the flesh, with me,
on the bed with you, my wife,
no longer make believe…
 
Only an image, whisper of you,
a text from you enough,
to make me hard, adjusting,
to change my day, focus,
to set endorphins to flight…
 
Down in the weeds, the bush,
in the black hair of my maiden,
smelling you, tasting you,
bringing you to climax,
to sweet release, again…

We are brought into God’s light – v2

We are brought into God’s light,
from the realm of darkness,
we are called to walk on God’s path,
the one he has written for us…
 
when we turned away from God,
we were cursed to toil, to sweat,
our whole lives are that journey,
that leads us back to God…
 
We must turn from darkness,
ways of the earth, the flesh,
we must accept God’s loving promise,
Victory in the end…

Courage – 2 – v2

Courage should define us
if we have faith, if we trust,
if we believe in sovereignty,
in Almighty God…
 
Why do we hesitate, frozen,
when God will lift us up,
just as he promised, our hope,
because God loves us so much…
 
We must be strong and courageous,
we must abide in faith,
we must step our boldly,
on the path God writes for us…
 
Courage should define us
if we have faith, if we trust,
if we believe in sovereignty,
in Almighty God…

alive, in the realm of the Spirit – v3

bound to Christ Jesus,
redeemed by Him, alone,
alive, in the realm of the Spirit
reborn, walking, striving,
with our risen Lord, Jesus,
transformed, transfixed,
transfigured with Him,
alive in the Spirit, afire,
awakened, reborn,
free from our flesh…
 
alive in the flesh, in the body,
but cleaving to the Spirit, to life,
to the truth of the Gospel,
the way of Jesus Christ, our hope,
our light shining, alive, transcendent,
rising within us, abiding, God alive,
the fire within us, calling us,
wooing us to our purpose,
awakened, reborn,
free from our flesh…

feeling alone, on the outside,
trying to fit in, to belong,
but having to choose better,
falling in with the wrong crowd…
 
each moment a choice, a decision,
we make on our journey,
when we look in the mirror,
what do we see…
 
be on guard for evil,
for easy temptation,
stay strong in the battle,
your life is at stake…
 
don’t fall in with the wrong crowd,
listen to God’s calling to you,
stay on the path, the way,
God has written for you…

for we are all part of one body,
we have been called to community,

God wants us to be happy,

God calls us, each of us – v2

all of us are broken, shattered,
on our own we are unworthy,
all of us with feet of clay,
of the flesh, the dust…
 
but we have a calling,
a purpose in this life,
God calls us, each of us,
To answer that call…
 
we may be young, we may be older,
we may think of ourselves unworthy,
we may feel we are not good enough,
to answer God’s heavenly call…
 
but God has called us,
God knows us fully,
God will equip us,
You are enough…

When you pray,
pray such as this,
in humility, in praise,
pray without ceasing,
with your whole heart,
singing to Your Father,
for the Glory of God…
 
Pray for today,
in humble worship,
remember God’s faithfulness,
food for each day, a hope,
protection from our enemies,
knowing God is with us,
with our every step…
 
When you pray,
pray with your being,
all that you are, authentic,
coming humbly before God,
remember we are broken
and God alone is perfect,
pray always for the glory of God…

how would the story be different,
would he have killed him,
the line of David,
would he have taken
Bathsheba back as his wife…

the king confronted, reviled
openly in the courts,
a struggle for power,
maybe even a death…
 
If Uriah had lived, if he had survived,
how would the story be different,
would he have taken up arms,
against the king, King David,
would he have taken

live in righteousness,
hold onto your faith,
hold on fiercely, tightly,
persevere in the fight…
 
do not be condemned, judged,
once you are saved, my brothers,
hold fast to your faith, tightly,
don’t stain Christ’s sacrifice…

do not abide in sin – v2

do not abide in sin
when Christ has saved you,
do not deny the cross
faith that sustains you…
 
be sanctified, be holy,
stay on the path, persevere,
for God is our portion,
the one hope we carry…
 
do not quench the Spirit,
God indwelling within you,
stay true to your path, your calling,
the one that God has written…

all the mysteries of God,
Creator, the Potter,
revealed in the body,
in the life of Jesus Christ…
 
all that was written,
One who would save us,
the Word become Flesh,
a Babe that climber our cross…
 
all our questions answered,
life in abundance, joyful,
all the mysteries revealed,
in the life of Jesus Christ…

The Sanctity of Life - v2

I will never trust the vessel,
an embodiment of evil,
the most unchristian man
that I have ever seen;
but I must ask, how can I
love God, and be a Christian,
when the sanctity of life, each life,
is held in the balance, this choice…
 
Every life is worthy, important,
a gift of the divine, the Creator,
at the moment of conception,
a soul pulled from the Guf,
called, commissioned,
created, molded, within
their mother’s womb,
waiting to be born…
 
With each ending, termination
before their beginning comes
a life unborn, cut down,
an unfulfilled calling,
an unmet purpose,
part of God’s plan, lost, cut down,
a choice made, free will,
but was it of God…
 
A hard place to stand, to anchor,
based on my own convictions, the law,
a struggle between God and free will,
a sense that I should not tell another,
the choices they should make,
pain they would suffer, autonomy,
if choice were taken from them
but grieving for the fate of innocent life…
 
Giving immense power, authority,
to one so utterly broken, bereft,
of any moral character, vile,
a fount of lies, of grievances,
so unlike our Savior, Christ,
so unworthy a leader, a liar,
the worst our country can offer,
how is he a protector of innocent life???

Turn from evil and do good,
hold fast to God who saves us,
sing His glory, His praises,
His mercies unceasing…
 
Turn from evil and do good,
follow God’s commandments,
stay true to your faith, believe,
love God and your fellow man…
 
Turn from evil and do good,
God’s highest calling to us,
walking in the light of God,
on the path He has written…
