He commits

Thomas came to Christ
filled with doubt
needing to touch the Lord
to feel the wounds of the cross
yet when he touches Jesus
he commits his life
calling out, “My Lord, My God”,
giving up his life

With honest doubt

Christ came to Thomas
to assuage his fears
Thomas needed to touch Jesus
to feel the scars, the scorn
With honest doubt he had spoken
Christ honoring that plea
letting him touch the scars, the pain
what he suffered for humanity

The courage to ask

what many of them were thinking
yet he had the courage to ask
to touch the flesh of Jesus
to feel his scars

Thomas should be applauded
because he spoke his doubts
needing a sign to believe

Courage to speak Doubt

We should be like Thomas
speaking out loud
the courage to speak his doubt
to be healed by the Lord
Not knowing what to believe
needing to touch to believe
speaking out loud his fears
coming to believe

Christ is the One
in the courts of heaven
One who speaks to the Father
when anyone sins

Christ, our atoning sacrifice,
our advocate, attorney
seeking to save our lives
when we are bound for judgment

Christ climbed the rugged cross
Christ was our sacrifice
atoning for all our sin
clean us of our stain

Christ drank the cup
the stain put upon him
he was without sin
became sin for all of us

for the sins of the whole world

Christ died for humanity
his sacrifice of love
not just for a select, a people
for the sins of the whole world
redeeming us to God

His nature, love
God is quick to forgive
sinners just like us

If we will not follow
where he would lead
if we will not turn from the world
and follow Christ’s path

If we claim we have not sinned
we have made God a liar
the words of forgiveness
for no real purpose

Quick to show mercy
slow to exact judgment
God is faithful and just
he will save us

If we confess our sins

If we confess our sins
if we repent of our life
turning unto God
to heal our brokenness
God is quick to answer
to heal our inner pain
Christ came for this end
to wash away our stain

God will forgive our sins

God will be merciful
He is faithful and just
God will forgive our sins
if we confess our sins to him
He is the master healer
the source of all love
he sent his Son for this
to atone for our sin
to dry every tear
to wipe our stain away

God will purify us

God will purify us
wash us wholly clean
from all unrighteousness
a new life in him

God will wash us clean

healing of all illness

Lord, God, I come to you in my darkness
well aware of my guilt, my sin before you
Knowing I have hurt you,
when you only sought to love me
pushed you away, denied your holy name
Forgive me, Lord, as I know you do
give me peace, solace,

We wallow in guilt

We deny our sin
or we wallow in guilt
not believing God will forgive
that God will forgive us

We seem to disbelieve
that Christ came to save us
the atoning sacrifice
taking on our stain

We refuse to admit our failings
we deny our sin
claiming we are in control
holding onto our will
God wants relationship
to reconcile with us
that is what he sent his Son
why He died for us

As bleach to a stain
organic in nature
Christ’s blood purifies us
washing us clean

His sacrifice
his choice to go to the cross
submitting his life to God
giving up his will

the wages we have earned
yet placed upon him
The perfect offering,
the unblemished lamb

Offering up witness
the truth of God’s love
God’s Light came and lived with us

God descended

the Son in the Father

Life as we knew it
changed for all time
God changing history

In the steps of our Master
in his living flesh

forsaking all else
He is life
light for our path

who directly saw the Christ

Not believing God’s redemption
his forgiveness of sin

If God bowed before me

If the Creator, eternal
if God bowed before me
stripped of his robe,
washing my feet, humble
coming as a servant
caring for me
that my feet would be clean

If God bowed before me
the living Christ
showing me love
how I am to love
what should I do
where I am but clay
how can I be more faithful
to walk in his way

Looking into his eyes
the eyes of my loving Savior
lovingly washing my feet

Christ is the sacrifice
He is the Son
like Isaac offered up
yet going to the cross
the altar, Calvary
paying our cost
Christ is God’s gift
that we would be redeemed

Christ is God’s Hope

Life in his love
in his sacrifice
risen to Glory
to his rightful place
Christ is God’s hope
to bring us home to him
our Savior, our Shepherd
God’s holy Word,
He is our King
the Creator of all things.

God builds

We are the soil,
we are the clay
we toil, in the fields
we plant, we sow
we water
according to God’s plan
In his time, as God wills it
God the builder
we but the stones
we are the gloves
he is the fingers
what comes of our efforts
God only knows
