Walking on Water – v4

Unlike the others
those huddled in the boat
afraid, frozen by the winds
the waves, crashing on the sides
fearing for their lives.

Peter went when the Master called him
walking on the water toward his brother
but fear grabbed him
when the winds would wail,
crying for the Master’s hand.

Trying to be faithful, certain,
to heed the Shepherd’s voice calling,
A prelude for his work, his mission,
once the Spirit descended on Pentecost
once the Spirit fell upon him in grace.

Leaving the nets by the shore
following the Savior’s leading;
Leaving the boat for the water’s skin
his faith enough to stand
upon the living water.

We are called to follow in Peter footsteps
the Rock upon the waves;
We are called to go, to stand
to serve our fellow man
in the ways revealed by God.

Each of us has a part
in the Master’s plan
a gift to do the work;
We are to follow our Savior’s way
to pick up our cross and walk.

Christ preached Mary – v2

Christ preached Mary
trusting God for everything;
To stop, to listen,
to sit at the feet
of the living God.

The world preaches Martha
striving forward;
Always busy
never time
for Jesus-rest.

The world preaches Martha
that we are to be working;
Out in the world
no time to stop
for Jesus-rest.

Christ preached Mary
that God provides for us;
If we just let Him
all that we need is given
and more besides.

the unknown before me;
Raised from the briny deep

climbing back upon the waters

A Line of Thread – v5

A single clear line of thread
strung by a fisherman
between flower and shrub
A road for her, a highway,
A line cast for errant prey
caught in the sunlight
this Sunday morning
After the dew had gone to gas
out of the shadows in the courtyard
A line thrown to catch
her breakfast
if they came her way

Frozen Fog – v6

Early Sunday morning,
leaving the highway,
Sparkles off the shoulder
draw our gaze;
the mist rising from the marsh
freezing as it touches
the grasses, the reeds
just off the highway

Light refracting and pulsing,
new frost clinging
to shrub and nettle,
goldenrod and milkweed;
the grasses. the reeds
just off the highway
blanketed, crystallized
ablaze in frozen fog

Stopping her tirade

feeling the space – v2

As we walk these days, in prayer
I touch the beads in my hand
the different steps in our prayers -
Adoration of God,
Letting go of the demons,
Feeling the space in this bead,
a space for silence
for a time for God

The beads give me a way to pray
a path, a journey forward
touching the heart of God
in color, in texture;
Journeying by color
by textures of love;
Fingering the string of beads
spending time with God.
