Early Sunday morning,
leaving the highway,
Sparkles off the shoulder
draw our gaze;
the mist rising from the
marsh
freezing as it touches
the grasses, the reeds
just off the highway
Light refracting and pulsing,
new frost clinging
to shrub and nettle,
goldenrod and milkweed;
the grasses. the reeds
just off the highway
blanketed, crystallized
ablaze in frozen fog
